Williams Sonoma and Casamigos Tequila and Mezcal have launched premium glassware, bar tools, and entertaining accessories perfect for home entertaining. RG: We have people drinking Casamigos that never drank tequila before as well as customers that switched from vodka and other types of liquor and are now fans of Casamigos. RICHARD: When hosting, what are your tips on gifting? How can you make your gifts memorable? RG: Have a gift for all your guests, wrap them nicely and include a personal note. Gifts you give should always be something someone wants or needs. The Casamigos x Williams Sonoma cocktail mixes and salts make the perfect gift. RICHARD: The Williams Sonoma collaboration makes it easy for anyone to be their own bartender at home. Which Williams Sonoma x Casamigos products will you be using on repeat? RG: All of them!

Cindy Ambuehl is arguably LA’s most sought-after real estate professional, consistently ranking as a top producer in one of the world’s most competitive luxury markets while retaining the trust of the area’s savviest homebuyers, sellers, and fellow agents. A familiar face who spent 20 years in the entertainment industry as a prominent actress and model, Cindy now leverages her natural ability to connect with people—not to mention her impressive capacity for negotiation and executing mutually rewarding business deals—as a full-time agent, helping clients buy and sell the most luxurious properties the greater Los Angeles area has to offer. What continues to set her apart is her unwavering work ethic, along with her tenacity and drive. In the early days of Cindy’s real estate career, when the real estate industry was at one of the lowest points in recent memory, she still managed to rank among the top 1% of real estate professionals nationwide — and she’s only gained momentum since. I was on the phone with Robert kets on the planet in Los Angeles, Southern California, you being one Reffkin of Compass,

of the leaders of that very powerful market, what were you feeling in watching that evolve, you being you? CA: Nobody likes uncertainty, and the world that we live in here in LA, is filled with a lot of extremely successful people, and they are the movers and shakers of most industries, and they are here in LA. For them to put a lot of things on pause and hold because of the uncertainty, really spoke volumes and needed to be heard. So what I felt from the very beginning when this all happened was I need to

to start to start listening to every podcast, I need to know how to best advise my clients. It’s such an uncharted territory, and how really to listen to them because unfortunately...we’re seeing people come from a place of fear, and nothing good comes from acting from a place of fear, and so it was really important from the very beginning to just try and listen. When people come from a place of fear, they want to be heard. They don’t just want to necessarily want to be told that “everything is going to be fine, let’s go buy a house, etc.” No, they want to be asked “what are

you afraid of?” What are your biggest fears? What are your concerns? How can we create a solution as opposed to dwelling on this problem, what solution can I help you facilitate?” These are conversations I’ve been having with clients morning, noon, and night. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were probably the hardest days of my entire professional career. Buyers were backing out right and left from all price points, $3 million to $15 million, fear based. And also, when you have a “town” of movers and shakers, a town of professionals who are used to

being in control, whether it be studio heads, investors, tech people, whomever, they are used to being in control. Captains of their industry. Suddenly, everything’s out of their control. There are things they don’t have answers or remedies to, and that’s what’s creating so much of the fear. It’s almost like an earthquake out here, it’s not just the shake, the shake’s not what bothers us, it’s the unknown of how bad is this shake going to be. I’ve lived here in California my whole life, and it’s never about the shake itself, we all stay standing during the shake, it’s that fear during those few minutes of “oh my God, how bad is this going to be, and what’s going to be the consequence at the end of it?” And we’re still shaking right now, that’s the volatile point where we are right now, we’re in a shake. RG: So staying in that scene so to speak, it’s still shaking, and not only is it still shaking, it’s definitely not in anyway in control, and you yourself, you’re a captain of industry, speaking to these other captains of industry, and you’re typically in control of your industry, I would think with respect to your fear-based analogy and spot on comment, I think what makes it even more frightening is no one knows exactly what ultimately is going to be broken and thus who exactly is going to be fixing what, while still staying proactive and how can we engage with and help our clients. CA: Right, and not only how’s it going to be fixed, but it’s still so unknown right now, whose really going to be hit the hardest, as far as the clients?

The one buying the $15 million house, are they unscathed because they pulled stocks out at a high at the onset of this, they held, and now they’re going to buy [a home] at a low, they’re actually making money from this. Or are they the ones that have 20, 30, 40 employees that they’re now having to take care of, and wanting to take care of, and now they’re not in a position to buy. You don’t know the impact yet. We’re all in this at different levels, but we’re all in this. So we really don’t know what the outcomes going to be or how to help and I think it’s a case by case basis. Everyone is sacrificing so much, the fact that these small business owners are closing these restaurants or closing bars or closing shops, these people live on a week to week income and they depend on consumers coming in and they’re closing their doors and they’re doing it in the hope of stopping this virus, slowing down the spread of this virus, and it’s a very responsible, wonderful thing that they’re doing and we just hope in the end that they’re going to be in a position, hopefully the banks will lend at a lower interest rate and give people the opportunity to refinance at a lower price per month to help them while they recoup. I think that’s what’s happening, I hope that continues to happen. We all have to help and work together. RG: In regards to the comment you made on the service industry, whether it be in Los Angeles or South Beach, Miami, it’s all so tied together. Those thousands upon thousands of workers that live week to week, so that’s gone, and then you have rent being waived

for a month at least initially, which then hits landlords, and down the line, so… CA: Listen, we had one buyer in an escrow earlier this week wanting to back out and they were saying it’s due to the devastation of the coronavirus, and in fact they in this particular situation have not been devastated by the coronavirus, and they were taking advantage of the situation because they’d had second thoughts about the house prior so they’re using it and I find that really distasteful. They’re are people really struggling and those people absolutely need help and they need forgiveness, and if that forgiveness means that they can’t pay their bills then we need to help them. It’s a challenging situation and we just hope everyone steps up to their responsibility. We all have a responsibility to one another and it’s the same thing with here in real estate, we’re all in contracts together, and we have responsibilities to one another as per contracts. So everyone has to act in good faith, we’re guiding our clients that way, we’re asking them to please practice good business, good faith practices, good negotiation, fair negotiation, and just understand that the person on the other side may really be going through a hard time and we have to be sensitive to it. RG: You being you, still with so many unknowns, a master strategist, are you at a point where you can begin to even initially formulate post whatever this initial coronavirus element might be? Both personally and professionally.

CA: We also want our kids to learn resonsibility with this, so we’re also teaching them to be aware. Be aware of spending. Be aware of their social interactions. Be aware of your kindness towards others through this. At the end of it, and we will get through this and we will get through this together, I hope that we keep some of these practices with us. I think we all need to take a lesson on this and slow down. There’s a lot to be said about being forced to slow down and putting your phones away and computers away, and talk and share and watch a movie together. I think that outside of the financial part of it, the human part of it is important and it’s about taking some of these lessons and making sure we carry them with us. With our clients, it’s helping them, what can we do to help you? Do you want us to help you refinance, we know lenders? All we can be is a resource and be there to let them to know that. We call our clients everyday during this, we call them everyday. Calling them and checking in. We’re not upselling them, we’re calling them to ask how can we be of service to you, what can we help answer, that’s where we come from. My team has daily tasks and the task I gave them this morning was to reach out to a minimum of eight clients today to see how they are, to see what we can do to help them, do not upsell them, instead encourage them and be an advisor. It’s just humanizing it. It shouldn’t be that hard, right?

If you ever fly into Bora Bora, make sure you grab a window seat. The water color there is one of the most beautiful things I have seen. Whether it’s from the air or sea level, you can’t go wrong on any island in French Polynesia. 96

Chasing sunsets across the California coastline has always been my favorite way to end the day. There’s something so relaxing about watching the color reflect on the rolling waves. Watching everyone come together and enjoy moments like these makes California the perfect place to call home.

I did not know about Laguna Beach growing up, but i am sure glad I found it at this point in my life. There’s something so comforting about the golden California coast. It is a mesmerizing energy that pulls you in, and sunset is really when it shines brightest! 103

25 Years Of Magic

Christopher Martin

The year was 1993 when Chris Martin found his tiny space in a 1950’s building in Dallas. He chose to show his own paintings, curating and carefully controling the experience his buyers would have with his work. Now after twenty five years of tapping into the “magical realm” in his creative process, we have asked him to reflect on his career, and give us a glimpse of what the future holds. Q; In twentyfive years of being in the artworld, what whould you say was one of your biggest “aha” moments? A; My most powerful “aha” moment happened twenty years ago when my whife Stacy and I got married. It was just the two of usand the Reverend with our feet in the surf of Barbados. Who you choose to spend your life with is in my opinion the biggest decision one can make. It takes a while to realize the signifigance when you are young, but twenty years later the impact is undeniable. Q; What was one the the most powerful moments in which you learned from what you might call a mistake? A; When I realize a mistake in my work it usually comes from a lack of focus or distraction. Iknow when it happens immediately. If I don’t trash the peice all together, I look for the oppertunity in it. How can I lean in to the mistake to find the unexpected turn it maybe presenting? Possibly taking the painting in a different direction than my initial intention. In my experience, life is often the same. When you 97

realize the mistake, look to find A; I would make sure that my the meaning in it. Is it really a young self knew how challenging it mistake or just an alternative to would be to span the decades as an your expectation? artist. There will be moments of flow and ease, feeling like you are Q; ClichĂŠ question: What would bullet proof, followed by times of you say to yourself now at that mo- doubt, loneliness and indecision. ment you were starting out with There will be failure, signifigant your dream, your passion, your mistakes and miscalculations. inspiration twentyfive years ago, Many times you will overestimate not knowingthe road ahead? your abilities, and take risks that

are disproportionate to the reward. Learn to rest and not quit, make an alley of your instincts. Find your anti depressants in the studio and not at the pharmacy. After being asked by a young artist, I wrote a list of things to consider about choosing art as a career. 1 - The process of making art can be physically demanding, lonely and psychologically exhausting.

2 - You set your own standard of what art is. Your work is never done, you could always spend more time in the studio and less time doing anything else. 3 - You cannot count on a paycheck. You invest most of what you make to make more work. 4 - No matter what you do someone will say it is derivative of someone eles’s work and they will

be right. 5 - You will want to quit many times and find it hard to start many days. 6 - You will always feel you’re only as good as the last peice you created. 7 - You will always feel that you have to live life as an artist and options other than that will never be fully considered. That being said,

living the life of an artist is an amazing way to live. The joy and satisfaction of creating something you and others feel better after being next to is rare air and worth every bit of the conflict that comes along with it. Q; Has your inspiration changed significantly since when you first began twentyfive years ago ? 99

10o

My inspiration has been consistent, to create paintings based on organic patterns with a painterly expression, I like to refer to my work as Organic Expressionism. Finding a balance in the painting is the intention I set for my work. Sometimes I feel that this focus has been too narrow, but then I review the last 25 years and fnd the linage these works all share, the i

paintings, when the idea and execution come together that furthers your vision and rewards your commitment. These paintings are the fuel I use to move to the next place, they give me the mental break, the Q: What piece or pieces over the respite from the creative process past 25 years have been the most that I need to pursue the next body of work. Armira, Fortuna, Zeven, meaningful to you and why? Kesho, Pandora, Wicked Garden A: Several, they are all Basecamp and Pantheon have all given me incremental steps in order to get where I am now ad feel that I have created a visual vocabulary that is uniquely mine, which I find tremendously satisfying.

the energy and encouragement to keep painting. I am so appreciative to have had them in my life. Q: What pieces have been the most lucratie and why? A: Fortuna, without a question, painted in 2017 with broad strokes of vibrant color and a very positive vibratio. It started a series that has lead to some amazing paintings that have been shipped all over the world. I also created a limited edition of that piece that has only a few editions left. Q: Now having succeed, grown with your accomplishments at an ever accelerated pace, as you look ahead 5, 10, the next 25 years, what are our next mileston goals? A: I’m not one ot set goals, I believe that they are limiting and tend to put blinders on that obscure opportunities. We live in such a goal-oriented world and to operate without them seems counterintutive. Staying healthy, working hard, being a good husband and father are the objectiives or principals that I try to stay true to; by doing so it allows good to flow in my life that I hope is apparent in my art. Q: Why did you choose the pieces you did for this feature? A; I selected some of the basecamp paintings. These are examples of my work that started entire serises, coming together in a way that creates a sense of accomplishment and mastery. These types of paintings feel like artistic gifts, keeping me creatively inspired. 103

The Hyper-Realistic Paintings of

MARC DENNIS

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, (The Transfiguration of Snow White)

Marc Dennis is an American artist known for his hyper-realistic paintings that celebrate the subversive potential of beauty and identity and explore the charged subjects of love, loss and sensuality. Interested in transformative possibilities Dennis merges various movements throughout the western art historical canon, with modern tropes in order to create fresh paintings rich with hype and narrative where elements of the Renaissance, Pre-Raphaelites, Grimm’s Fairy Tales and Walt Disney’s magical universe intersect. The real and staged figures, flowers, and forest dwelling creatures in Dennis’ paintings are beautiful, powerful, wicked and wondrous that open a window into the contradictions and complexities of abundance and isolation, strength and weakness, and love and death.

Mulliner Bacalar The Most Exclusive & Bespoke Bentley Of The Modern Era Images Courtesy of Bentley Motors Written By James Leto

Bentley Mulliner has revealed the all-new Bacalar at the home of Bentley in Crewe, England. The rarest two-door Bentley of the modern era, and the ultimate expression of two-seat, open-air luxury, this definitive Grand Tourer spearheads a return to coachbuilding by Bentley Mulliner – the oldest coachbuilder in the world. Just 12 examples of this striking, limited edition model are being

created, guaranteeing rarity and exclusivity, and offering supreme luxury and breath-taking performance. Bacalar looks to the future of bespoke luxury motoring - each model will be handcrafted in Bentley Mulliner’s workshop in Crewe, according to the individual customer’s personal tastes.

Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, comments: “The Bentley Mulliner Bacalar is our ultimate expression of an open-top, luxury grand tourer,

and of the immense capabilities of our team in Crewe. “In Bacalar, we have created a fully bespoke Bentley, orientated towards a two seat open top experience, and carrying a number of the forward thinking elements of future luxury, first heralded in our EXP100GT as part of our Centenary celebrations last year. “Bacalar is a rare and remarkable Bentley, and whilst clearly defined, will be an extraordinary and collaborative experience for just twelve discerning people who will now co-create, collect, drive and treasure one of twelve being built. “Our customers are as excited as we are about Bacalar, as it brings our team and discerning enthusiasts together, to create the finest bespoke, hand-built cars, and push the boundaries of our imagination and capabilities.” A masterpiece of craftsmanship, the Bacalar is a seamless fusion of materials with an intelligent curation of technology. It draws on design DNA from the beautifully sculpted, award-winning EXP 100 GT which was recently crowned ‘Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year’ at the prestigious French Festival Automobile International and ‘Concept Car of the Year’ by GQ magazine. A statement of purpose for the future, Bacalar now propels Bentley into a new century of extraordinary, as the design team has envisaged the most dynamically sculpted model to date. The dramatic, tapered cowls at the rear hark back to the Barchetta sports cars of old, whilst underlining the

promise of a dynamic, driver-focussed adventure in a cosseting, cocooned environment. Pure in line and execution, the distinctive, wraparound cockpit flows from a new, steeply angled centre console seamlessly into the dashboard and doors. These then wrap rearwards towards the semi-enclosed luggage compartment behind the two seats. Sustainable, ethically-sourced materials previewed in the EXP 100 GT concept car last year have now become reality in the Bacalar – just eight months after first being previewed. These include paint containing ash from rice husks, which provides a sustainable way of delivering a rich metallic finish, natural British wool and 5,000-year-old Riverwood sourced from the ancient Fenlands of East Anglia. The Bacalar features an enhanced version of Bentley’s peerless 6.0-litre, W12 TSI engine. The most advanced 12-cylinder engine in the world, it produces 659 PS (650 bhp) and 900 Nm (667 lb.ft) of torque. An advanced Active All-WheelDrive System varies the torque split between front and rear wheels. It allows the Bacalar to use rear-wheel drive as much as possible during normal driving for optimum efficiency and dynamic performance. The drivetrain is at the heart of the Bacalar, creating the ultimate open-air, two-seat luxury Grand Tourer available in the world today. All examples of the exquisite Bentley Mulliner Bacalar have already been allocated to customers from around the world.

LOUIS XIII Time Collection

Tribute to City of Lights - 1900

After the first opus “THE ORIGIN – 1874” commemorating the creation of LOUIS XIII, the House has partnered with the Monnaie de Paris and The Cristallerie of Saint-Louis to pay tribute to Paris in 1900, where LOUIS XIII received the highest praise. A creative limited-edition of 2000 numbered decanters commemorating this historical year, when Paris hosted the World Fair, celebrating the arts and craftsmanship of the city of lights. The Paris World Fair 1900: The Style and Savoir-Faire of the Century to Come In 1900, The Paris World Fair was a global festival of engineering feats, technical triumphs and creative prowess counting 83,000 exhibitors, which present a vision of the world 100 years ahead. Thanks to his founder Paul-Émile Rémy Martin, who was an active member of the Paris Universal Exposition jury, LOUIS XIII was presented and received the highest praise. An entry in the new century with prestige, alongside the Monnaie de Paris who minted over 40 000 medals awarded throughout the 210 days event. Picture yourself in Paris in 1900. It’s the Belle Epoque: beauty and optimism fill the air and the city is shining at its brightest. Fifty million people have descended onto the capital to celebrate technical and industrial prowesses and usher in the marvels of the future: the technology, the innovation, the architecture and the arts that will shape the century to come.

A Masterpiece by Three French Houses with a Shared Passion for Arts & Craftsmanship LOUIS XIII, The Monnaie de Paris and Saint-Louis have much in common: they are all historic French Houses that think ahead of their Time, legendary institutions perpetuating an ancestral savoirfaire. Today, with this unique limited edition, they have come together to capture the imprint of Time in a creation of lasting value. The decanter is a reedition of the original bottle inspired by a flask found on the battlefield of Jarnac fought in 1569. It features 13 dentelle spikes instead of the usual 10, a stopper in the form of an upturned decanter, an elegant neck and 7 fleur-de-lys decorated with an 18 carats champagne gold, as well as a central medallion showcasing the LOUIS XIII TIME COLLECTION: TRIBUTE TO CITY OF LIGHTS – 1900 unique medal. The champagne- gold metal coffret presents a new medal design on each corner. Inspired by illustrations from the archives of the Monnaie de Paris, each captures a facet of Paris in 1900: Arts & Craftsmanship, the Iconic Architecture, the City of Lights and La Parisienne, that would shape the century to come. Each LOUIS XIII LOUIS XIII TIME COLLECTION: TRIBUTE TO CITY OF LIGHTS – 1900 limited edition gives its owner exclusive access to a full-size medal specially minted by the Monnaie de Paris special workshops and engraved with the same, unique number as the decanter. A collectors’ piece to treasure

forever and a must-have for all connoisseurs. It will also provide to clients a seamless access to an exclusive world of privileges thanks to the integration of NFC technology on the cork stopper. Each decanter will directly connect clients to the LOUIS XIII Society*, a private club where members can enjoy exclusive content, unique experiences and personalized services through their smartphones.

OWN YOUR OWN THRONE Newfound Awareness & Self Love

Pirie Grossman & Diane Chandler

Pirie Grossman and Diane Chandler met at the University of Santa Monica in 2014 where they both studied and graduated with a Master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology in 2016. From the outside, Pirie and Diane were leading extraordinary and successful lives, yet on the inside felt like a lot of healing needed to happen from difficult experiences in their lives. Together, they learned the tools and techniques that helped them transform their lives. Now they are on a mission to help other women redefine their lives and discover their potential. Their primary focus is to inspire and empower EVERY woman to remember the Queen that lies within! It’s no surprise that today Pirie and Diane maintain successful lives, but with a newfound awareness and self-love as the foundation of all that they do. The vehicle they chose to utilize what they learned and how they wanted to share it with other women was through a podcast and video series called, “Own Your Throne” Reinventing the Second Chapter of Your Life”. The podcast launched March 2, 2020 has been a huge success! Women around the world are deeply resonating with their empowering message that it’s possible to live a life of newfound fulfillment during the 2nd chapter of their lives!

They are on a mission to inspire and support women who are looking to REINVENT and REIGNITE their lives, as they enter this new chapter. They interview women who have recreated their lives and who’s stories will inspire other women to realize they can do the same.

They are also committed to changing the conversation about ageism. They feel that women so frequently define themselves by arbitrary societal expectations, so naturally most women feel like their lives are over when they reach 40! They have either gone through a divorce, their kids have left the nest or career opportunities have shifted. This leads to a lack of self-esteem or happiness. So far their guests have included Rita Wilson Hanks, Jennifer Flavin Stallone, Candace Nelson, Founder of Sprinkles Cupcakes, Kelly Noonan Gores, Producer of “Heal” documentary, Julie Piatt, Ali Landry, Elissa Goodman, Agapi Stassinopolous and many more exceptional women!
