“We discussed a number of things including the length I wanted, how thick I wanted my hair to be, and what colour I wanted. We talked about different options regarding colour to achieve a textured look and then Dee examined the shape and size of my head to determine how many bundles of hair to order. I wanted the colour to be a very dark brown, almost black, with some very subtle medium brown highlights, which Dee was able to incorporate with the extensions.”

Her bridal hairstyle was equally beautiful and romantic; long, flowing and curly with volume. She wore her hair half up, half down, with a lot of height in the front, and she couldn’t have been happier. “It is thanks to my Great Lengths extensions that my hair looked the best it has ever looked, on the most important day of my life. It was mainly because of my hair that I felt as beautiful and confident on my wedding day as I did.”

On the day of the application, Dee worked her magic with two bundles of 20” extensions in colour 1B. Before applying the extensions, Dee washed, cut, dried, and styled Chelsea’s hair. After the application, Dee again cut and styled Chelsea’s hair so the extensions and natural hair blended beautifully. Prior to her Great Lengths, Chelsea had never even worn clip-in extensions, so the process was completely new to her, and she was pleasantly surprised with the experience.

HOW THEY MET | Mario and Jessica knew each other through mutual friends but never had the chance to connect. It wasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t until one of Jessicaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s friends posted a picture of her on Instagram that Mario finally made the move to message her and invite her to a party. (Welcome to the Instagram generation!) They finally met at the party and have been inseparable ever since. Exactly 18 months later, Mario got down on one knee and proposed to Jessica on a winery tour at Ravine Vineyard surrounded by candles, flower petals and their families.

THE CEREMONY | The ceremony was exactly what Jessica and Mario envisioned. They walked into a church filled with flowers. From the floral arch to the pews, each was decorated with roses and orchids from Gatto Flowers. Jessica recalls it being an absolute fairytale. A family friend sang, they had a live harpist play music and everything came together just as perfectly as they imagined.

THE RECEPTION | The goal of the reception was to showcase a floral garden. Flowers hung from the ceiling, five different types of centrepieces were created and a 22-foot-high backdrop loaded with candles and more flowers brought the grandeur to a whole new level. The contemporary yet romantic theme decorated by Gatto Flowers and R5 Event Design with all-white flowers, organic greenery and gold accents was the perfect touch to their night. With 700 guests dining and dancing, it truly was a night they will remember forever.

THE DECOR | Jessica and Mario thought of every single detail: beautiful serpentine tables, gold cutlery, cherry blossom trees and so much more. Candles lit the room all night long and the flower garden never ended. HOW THEY MET Jake and Shannon grew up in the same small town, without realizing they lived just around the corner from each otherâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;they went to different schools and had different friends. One night in 2011, Shannon got out of her comfort zone and hung out with a new group of people where Jake happened to be. They got along immediately and felt a natural chemistry. That night, it took him a while to follow up with a text message, but Shannon tracked him down eventually and the rest is history.

THE RECEPTION | Jake and Shannon’s favourite part of the day was the reception. It quickly turned into a comfortable space that perfectly fulfilled their vision. Long white linens and greenery draped every table, alongside gold cutlery and marble name cards. Listening to their loved ones talk about their love was amazing. Everyone had the best time dancing and celebrating all night long. THE DECOR | Without a doubt, the couple wanted an elevated barn wedding theme for their decor. Instead of aiming for country rustic, they decided on modern rustic by incorporating light, airy, ethereal details such as white florals and plenty of greenery. Twinkling lights hung overhead, tables featured geometric votives and the cake was half naked, half metallic.

They connected instantly and always looked forward to working the same shifts together. Stephanie even picked up additional shifts on days she knew heâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d be working, or purposely moved shifts around so that they could work together. Over the course of a few months, their friendship solidified, and after a year of getting to know one another, Ryan asked Stephanie out on their first date. Theyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve been in separable ever since. From traveling to new countries and trying new foods. Both have pushed each other to be the best version of themselves and work hard to build the best possible future together.

THE CEREMONY | As bride Stephanie recalls, “Our ceremony was the highlight of our lives.” The space was filled with positive energy from close family and friends, and when the time came for her to walk down the aisle, it was as if the world stopped spinning and she was exactly where she needed to be. To everyone’s surprise, especially Stephanie’s, as Ryan began to read his vows, he paused and began to fight back tears (he’s never been the emotional type). Nonetheless, the crowd cheered him on with support to continue and Stephanie’s father even yelled out, “You’re my hero!” It was a special moment made all the more special with Ryan finishing off his vows by speaking to Stephanie in Spanish.

THE RECEPTION | With Ryan’s background being Chinese/Laos and Stephanie’s being El Salvador, together they had a multicultural reception with guests from around the world. They had live samba dancers perform, (a big hit amongst everyone in attendance) as well as a premium open bar to start the party. Their wedding night was also the same night the Toronto Raptors made history by winning the NBA championship, so one can only imagine the energy that filled the space.

Thane and Georgina’s love story unknowingly began when Georgina became friends with Thanes’ sister, Felicia. At the time, Felicia bugged the two to get together by going on a “blind date” but neither was having it. Some time had passed and by fate, Thane and Georgina ran into each other at a festival. They started talking and just like that, Thane asked Georgina out by offering to take her for a ride on his motorcycle. She said “yes” and the rest is history.

Plenty of natural light shone in from the windows spotlighting the plethora of cherry blossoms and roses lining the aisle. When Georgina saw it for the first time, her breath was taken away. The moment she walked side by side with her mother and father down the aisle, eyes glued to her soon-to-be husband, was one of the most amazing moments of her life. They said “I do” on June 22, 2019, which also happens to be Georgina’s parent’s wedding anniversary as well as the day after Thane’s birthday.

An otherwise simple, square room was transformed into a magical fairytale. Georgina recalls walking in with her mother and both being in tears. “I felt like I was living my dream,” she says. “She managed to make my vision a reality.” With a receiving line of 480 guests, the couple admits they fully lived up to the notion of a “Big Fat Greek Wedding.” An outstanding surf’n’turf dinner was enjoyed by all alongside an oyster bar (the bride’s favourite) and five different late night food stations. While traditional dancing and plate smashing kept the party going all night with entertainment from a Greek DJ.

THE DECOR | The decor was everything Georgina imagined and more. Gitta and her team did an outstanding job of filling the space with cherry blossom trees, tall rose centrepieces and chandeliers. Since it was important for the bride to be surrounded by the bridal party, an elevated platform was put into place to support the head table which truly stood out in

the centre of the room. Hanging overhead was an incredible floral canopy lit by more chandeliers. Immediate family sat directly in front of the bride and groom with more fairytale-inspired decor that featured fresh floral runners draping onto the floor. In the middle of it all was a vinyl dance floor displaying the coupleâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s initials.

THE CEREMONY | With a large group of friends on Brett’s side and Maddie’s entourage of siblings, the bridal party was one for the books: 15 bridesmaids and groomsmen. Each and every one was pampered to perfection thanks to Styling Your Beauty and Angela Xuereb. To kick off the ceremony, Maddie and her father surprised guests by pulling up to the aisle in a red MGB convertible, which carried special significance as it was purchased by her father back in his high school days. Both of her parents walked her down the aisle, as did Brett’s, where they later read personalized vows to one another. As an ode to Maddie’s late grandmother, two planters holding her favourite flowers were placed at the front of the aisle, so that she could be there in spirit.

Maddie, who grew up in the Kitchener-Waterloo area as the oldest of seven kids (five sisters and one brother), was always extremely sports-driven. She attended the University of Notre Dame on a track and field scholarship and competed on the Canadian National Track and Field Team at a number of international competitions in the heptathlon. In 2007, Wayne Gretzky drafted Brett to the NHL with the Phoenix Coyotes (now Arizona Coyotes). He played in the AHL and NHL for five years and expected to play for many years to come. Devastatingly, in the summer of 2012 he suffered from cardiac arrest while playing hockey with friends. After being in a coma for three days, Brett was told he could no longer play hockey professionally. Despite it all, Brett kept a positive mindset and ended up enrolling at the University of Waterloo where he studied business and coached the school’s hockey team. It was at that time that Maddie and Brett met one another at a charity event in Kitchener-Waterloo for KidsAbility. They met over cupcakes, he asked her which flavour was best and their relationship blossomed from there. Four and half years later, they shared more cupcakes on their wedding day.

Bringing that to life was plenty of greenery and pastel flowers, white draping and candles. As fans of live music, the newlyweds also had two friends perform throughout the night. Alongside the stand of cupcakes, Maddie’s mother, Pam, surprised everyone with a late night ice cream truck at 11 p.m. The oh-so fitting cherry on top of it all was the newlyweds getting the chance to serve their guests from behind the counter. The direction Maddie and Brett took

to showcase their love of the outdoors was to combine pink and white flowers with an abundance of greenery. From the floral arbour to the floral swing, the overall goal was to incorporate their laid back, sporty personalities into the design with a light colour palette and personal touches throughout. Friends joined in on the occasion from all over North America, so a weekend of activities was planned to continue the celebration for everyone who travelled near and far. Karla and Marc-Anthony met in Montreal at a nightclub called Muzique. Karla was a student at McGill University at the time and Marc-Anthony was visiting Montreal from Ottawa with some friends for the weekend. It was love at first sight. The two hit it off with their fun-loving personalities and bonded over their passion for food, wine and travel. To celebrate eight years as a couple, and having lived in three different cities together, they got married on June 22, 2019 in front of 175 family and friends.

THE CEREMONY | With both families hailing from out of town, Karla and Marc-Anthony wanted to provide them with a unique local experience representative of their lives in the city. For that reason, they chose St. Mary’s Church for its rich history plus the fact that it resides in their neighbourhood. Michael met Angela in 2015 while she was working at Nino Dâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;Aversa Bakery. He and his family had gone in for pizza, and as soon as Angela saw him, she made sure to serve him. She was drawn to his charm, while he was drawn to her smile and kindness. After that night, Michael made a point of frequently visiting the bakery for espressosâ&#x20AC;Śand to spend time with Angela. One day, he came for a coffee, and ended up leaving with her number. Fittingly enough, many of their dates afterwards involved coffee and pizza.

THE DECOR| With the help of Imperial Flower Shop, the reception was transformed into a beautiful fusion of elegance and romance. White draping and gorgeous florals filled the space, set the mood, but most importantly, brought the bride’s vision to life. Angela’s bouquet consisted of white peonies, garden roses, ranunculus and spray roses, while bridesmaid bouquet’s included an array of white floral and greenery. A semi-circle of tables was arranged around the bride and groom for the head table, while the rest of the room was decorated with high-low centrepieces, accents of taupe and gold, and plenty of candlelight to create the romantic, modern theme Angela was hoping for. Robert and Amanda met through mutual friends over 20 years ago. Since both were dating other people at the time, they started out just as friends. Years had passed and the two found themselves reconnected through a different group of friends. Ten years after their first meeting, they finally started dating. While Amanda was in the process of studying for a major career transition that required her full attention, she unfortunately ended things with Robert. Over the next few years, they continuously bumped into each other with the feelings still there. Three more years passed by and Amanda’s career was established, however her love life was non-existant. She built up the courage to reach out to Robert and see if he wanted to meet at a new oyster restaurant (Robert loves them) and fortunately he agreed. The feelings between them were mutual, and with both of their careers in order, the timing was perfect. Within three months, Robert asked Amanda to marry him to which she happily said “yes!”

the ceremony. There to officiate it was a close family friend of Robert’s, making the occasion special for both of them. Having always loved the classic, old world grandeur of Chateau Le Jardin (not to mention high-quality food), the couple had no trouble selecting it as the venue to host their reception planned by Express Yourself Weddings & Events.

Allyssa and Padhraic met in April of 2012 at P.J. O’Brien’s pub in Toronto. Padhraic (also known as Paddy) was out celebrating with his Irish football team and Allyssa happened to be out with her mother and sister for a drink. When Allyssa went to the bar, she and Paddy starting chatting and really hit it off. They exchanged numbers but only connected a few months later in August. On their first date, when Paddy came to pick her up, they began talking and couldn’t stop. The connection was instantaneous.

THE CEREMONY | Allyssa and Paddy’s intimate celebration was made perfect with simple, yet chic decor. They said “I do” under a trendy triangle arch decorated with pampas grass; their officiant Jeff Maeck kept it light and heartfelt; and their 18-month-old niece couldn’t contain her excitement and laughter the entire time truly making their day. As the lead professional makeup artist behind Allyssa Helm Beauty & Co., Allyssa looked positively radiant. Her glam squad (Angela Xuereb Hair & Makeup Artistry, Shannon Petrolito, Presley Foskett, Jessica Wolfert and Alysse Morrison), also ensured the entire bridal party was stunning.

THE RECEPTION & DECOR | The goal of the reception was to keep everything laid-back and cocktail style. Tall bar tables and stools were dispersed throughout the venue so guests could easily maneuver their way around and mingle. To bring some Californian flair to the setting, a gorgeous pampas grass floral installation was hung from the ceiling alongside other small arrangements containing king protea with mixed metal decor. Everyone enjoyed the fun, party atmosphere where plenty of Irish dancing took place.

THE RECEPTION

The head table was the show stopper of the evening, with mirror sweet heart table decor aligned with a lush floral blanket cascading on both ends. Above was a custom-made, suspended cherry blossom wreath (approximately 20 feet in diameter) accented by hanging chandeliers. Behind was a soft delicate drape that kept the windows slightly exposed to overlook the beautiful golf and country club view.

THE CEREMONY Nadine and Gary wanted everything to be held in one location. They had their ceremony and reception at The Doctorâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s House, which was the perfect venue. The chapel was decorated with greenery on the pews and beautiful floral arrangements at the front of the chapel. Guests blew bubbles as they exited. It was a very special moment for both of them. THE RECEPTION AND DECOR When it came to the planning and decor of the wedding Nadine relied on the guidance of Lisa K Events to help plan

the perfect wedding. Their dream was to have a wedding full of fall colours. As an added touch each guest was given a package that Nadine had put together. Jars of homemade jam and chocolates added that extra sweet touch. Rustic elements like a custom charcuterie board added to the rustic fall feel of the wedding. Gary brought an element of fun by having Led ice cubes that lite up on each table-being a techy guy he felt this was a little representation of him. Everyone enjoyed the evening as it was filled with amazing food, laughter and most importantly celebrating the love of this beautiful couple.

HOW THEY MET Bradâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s brother, Ryan, set up Sam and Brad on a blind date. Although they already knew each other from high school, Sam played hard to get. A few years later, Ryan ran into Sam and convinced her to go on a double date with his brother once more, only this time accompanied by he and his then-girlfriend (now wife). It didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t take Sam long to realize that they were indeed a great match.

THE CEREMONY

St. Andrew Church, where Sam grew up attending, was where the ceremony took place in Oakville. The bride arrived in style in her grandfather’s 1961 Thunderbird with her mother, sister and Nonno. As an ode to the song that her parent’s got married to years before, Sam selected Pachelbel’s Canon to walk down the aisle. Brad and Sam filled the church with their family and friends who had witnessed their relationship grow over the last eight years. After sealing it with a kiss, the newlyweds walked out to one of their favorite songs, “My Girl” by The Temptations.

THE RECEPTION

With the couple now living in Toronto, they wanted to have their reception in a boutique-style hotel downtown. After seeing the art deco design and vintage ambience of the Grand Banking Hall at One King West, they chose it for their wedding. The overall atmosphere was warm and inviting, and Brad’s speech brought down the house with plenty of laughter and happy tears. Christine Lim captured the entire day perfectly.

THE DECOR

The palette chosen for the overall decor scheme was periwinkle and gold, complemented by bursts of colour from the wildflower-inspired bouquets. Pillar candles of varying heights were placed on each table alongside sparkly gold table numbers to set the mood. For a sentimental touch, photos of the couple and their parentâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s weddings were on display on the vintage banking counters. One of the coupleâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s favourite pieces was the custom photo booth backdrop created to make guests look like they were sitting on the moon.
