How They Met | Although Maria and Giovanni shared several circles of friends and attended many of the same parties, it took one particular summer night (being in the right place at the right time) to cross paths. Just as the saying goes, it was “love at first sight.” Neither can forget the electric moment when their eyes met. Introductions were made, they danced all night and precisely three years later they pledged to share their lives together. The Ceremony | Maria and Giovanni selected Mary Queen of the World Cathedral as the spot for their ceremony, not only because it’s beautiful, but because the groom’s parent’s got married there 37 years earlier. For the reception (like most Italian weddings) the focus was on having an
abundance of food, tasty cocktails and good music. Since the bride and groom both love live music and to dance, a live musician brought the perfect energy with incredible jazz style. The Decor| Reflecting a timeless theme at Plaza Volare was made possible by integrating various white flowers, amber lighting and gold accents for the decor. To create a focal point at the centre of the room, the couple opted to place luxurious gold bar backs filled with flowers behind their sweetheart table. Candles placed around the centrepieces also added to the warm ambience desired by the bride and groom. Foto Studio Franca Sorrenti was there to elegantly capture it all.

How They Met|Vanessa and Steven met on a group trip to Cancun. Not only was he a late addition to the voyage, but as fate would have it, they even had to share a room together. During the vacation Vanessa and Steven got to know each other and it started to be a running joke with the others that they were going to get married. After the trip, they went on a date, the courtship grew and eventually they moved in together. Lo and behold four years later, the joke became a reality. The Ceremony|The goal of the ceremony was to keep things personal. The couple had one of the groom’s good friends act as the celebrant, family members made little speeches and they took it upon themselves to write their own vows. Alongside it being

funny and romantic, the celebrant got caught up in the moment and forgot to mention their vows. Steven had to interrupt to make sure they were included in the ceremony. Everybody had a laugh. The Decor|Since Vanessa and Steven’s wedding was on December 1st, they wanted to have a setting reminiscent of a winter wonderland. The colour palette consisted of white and silver, while a fresh greenery flower wall provided the perfect backdrop for the ceremony and sweetheart table later at the reception. For a touch of warmth, tables featured gold chargers and candles. Inhouse Studios Photography captured the entire celebration exquisitely. rentals:

How They Met|Emily and Sacha met at a mutual friend’s birthday. Both were in a relationship at the time but Sacha’s presence immediately
caught Emily’s attention. One night (two years later) when Emily was newly single, one of her girlfriend’s asked if she knew anyone who would be interested in Sacha and she responded, “ME!” Later that same evening, Sacha joined them and that’s when their connection started.
The Proposal|In 2017, Sacha proposed to Emily with a little help from their adorable cat, Jules. One Saturday night (when they planned to stay in, watch a movie and relax), Emily went to change into her pajamas after supper and return to the couch to start a movie. When she did, she saw Jules sitting next to Sacha with something flashing around his collar. She quickly approached him and screamed with joy at the realization that it was a ring. Sacha then formally proposed to Emily and she gladly accepted in tears of joy. The Ceremony|Sacha and Emily said “I do” in front of 150 family and friends at an elegant and urban outdoor ceremony officiated by the brother of the bride. For Emily’s entrance, a beautiful mash up of Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 5” and One Republic’s “Secret” by The Piano Guys played. Her favourite moment was looking into Sacha’s eyes as she walked down the aisle, paying attention only to him and the love in his eyes.

For the meals of the evening, the first course consisted of a green salad; second course, a cavatelli pasta with tomato sauce; third course, choice of fish or filet mignon; and dessert, cake and cookies.
The Bride Says… The Decor | The overall theme for the Emily and Sacha’s reception was classic meets urban. Guests found their seats at wooden family-style tables where low centrepieces featured a mix of green and white flowers. Jaz Ralph How They Met | A mutual friend who wanted to match them for months brought Jaz and Ralph together in 2015. On a sunny day in Montreal during Grand Prix weekend on Monkland Avenue, they finally exchanged numbers and let the magic begin. At that moment, both knew they would soon share something unique. A year and a half later on New Year’s Eve, Ralph picked Jaz up from her mother’s only to be running late from the jeweller. When he walked in, Jaz thought he was holding a bag of chocolates, but it was the engagement ring. He bent down on one knee and asked her to marry him, to which she gladly said, “yes!”
The Ceremony|Jaz and Ralph’s simple ceremony was made special due to the fact that it was officiated by the groom’s godfather. Before

exchanging vows in front of family and friends, the couple shared a private first look session. At the ceremony, the bride walked down the aisle to The Piano Guys’ cover of Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years.” The Reception | The goal for the reception was to ensure guests got the flavour of both Haitian and Moroccan cultures. Signature cocktails of the evening were coconut mocktail (for the bride) and lemon and gin (for the groom), while canapés consisted of grilled lamb chops, arancini, cajun tuna tataki and satay chicken brochettes amongst other delicious dishes. Later, a midnight snack station opened serving mini shish taouk, smoked meat sandwiches and fried won tons.

The Entertainment | As music lovers, it was important to Jaz and Ralph that they fill their reception with an array of Haitian melodies (Afro-Cuban, Compas), Moroccan beats and reggae-dancehall tunes. For the amariya tradition (where the bride is lifted into the air), a live Moroccan band was present playing drums and trumpets as everyone surrounded the dance floor. Lisa + Eddy Photography captured the entire day beautifully.

Sandrine Nyam Sandrine and Nyam were 15 years old when they first met at a French school in Libreville, Gabon. They were in the same class and she was a new student sitting in front of him. On the first day, she turned around to ask him a question about the schedule. From that moment on, they became high school sweethearts. During university, they went their separate ways and reconnected for good during the summer of 2015—14 years after their first encounter.

Domaine de Béronsart in Brussels, Belgium, provided the perfect backdrop for Sandrine and Nyam’s magical ceremony surrounded by trees, flowers and ponds. To literally reflect the beauty of nature, a mirror aisle runner was created and decorated with white roses along each side. All decor accenting the ceremony was refined and minimal to allow the wonderful setting to shine.

The Reception |Sandrine and Nyam’s reception planned and designed by Eliana of Rox-Out took place inside a glass greenhouse where gorgeous trees, palms, vines and calla lilies were used to decorate every corner. The grand celebration included a custom-designed dance floor fit for all 215 guests as well as white and gold furniture for each table.

The Decor | In just three months, Rox-Out brought Sandrine and Nyam’s enchanted garden wedding to life. Alongside embracing all things outdoors, the greenhouse was made luxurious with tall white candelabra centrepieces and metallic gold accents with the chairs and tableware. At the end of the day, guests were gifted with adorable pineapple frames with their names inside.

How They Met | Valerie and Michel met three years ago on a dating app (though they joke it was at a grocery store). Both had signed up for the app on the same day, only spoke to each other and deleted it the next day. When it came to their engagement, Valerie describes it as pure magic! Knowing how much she loves the holidays, Michel tricked Valerie into planning a trip to New York City just after Christmas. Once there, he took her to the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and proposed right underneath. It was the first thing they did when they got there, as he couldn’t wait another minute. When they got back to the hotel, Michel arranged to have champagne waiting for them, with her parents on standby next to their phone to announce the big news.
The Ceremony | It was important to Valerie and Michel that they blend traditions from both their Jewish and Catholic heritages for the ceremony. Although originally planned outdoors, the entire celebration was moved inside due to pouring rain. A violin version of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley played as Valerie walked down the aisle, and to make it that much more special, her sister waited at the altar to
officiate. The ceremony, which took place under a pink floral chuppah, was bilingual and inclusive for everyone (concluding with the Jewish tradition of breaking the glass), and even included two of Valerie’s family tallits (a traditional Jewish prayer shawl for men)—one from her father and one from her late grandfather. The Reception | With Mother Nature’s unexpected call for rain, cocktail hour was also moved indoors. Luckily, Valerie and Michel have several musician friends who gifted them with a five-piece band and singer to entertain. Also, as the owner of Studio Baron Photo, Valerie took the liberty of capturing the details and decor of her reception, while good friend Lana Nimmons Photography captured the rest of the day. Moving into the reception, all food was served family style so guests could taste as much as they wanted. It was cozy and intimate with beautiful decor provided by Madame Bombance that included mismatched chairs, candlelight and string lighting.

The Couple Says… “Something will go wrong on your wedding day. It might be big or tiny and truth is only you will notice, but in the end your day will still be perfect. It rained like crazy on our wedding day, forcing us to move our ceremony and cocktails indoors. Eventually the rain stopped, the sun came out and we had a perfect rainbow over our wedding. Magic.”
On top of the emotional speeches given by family and friends, Michel surprised Valerie with a performance (he’s a musician) of the first song he ever played her on guitar, “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. Another massive moment Valerie will never forget is Michel’s speech to all the guests: “We know we said no kids at the wedding, but there is one exception… ours.” At that moment, Valerie put her hands over her stomach to happily announce that they’re having a baby. The intimate wedding finished with a massive bonfire, s’mores, popcorn and six musicians (including the groom) playing guitar with everyone singing along.

How They Met | Christina and Antimo met in high school. He was the green-eyed boy she always had a crush on. A few years later on a night out on the town, they bumped into each other. To her surprise, the crush was mutual. The couple went on to date for one year before he asked her to marry him. It was the happiest day of Christina’s life. The Ceremony | The second Christina and Antimo walked inside the St-Vincent-de-Paul Paroisse, they knew it was perfect for their ceremony. Not only did the architecture take their breath away, but the beautiful blue and gold high ceilings. Both were overjoyed by the amount of love felt in the church, from each other and from all those who came to bear witness to their marriage.

How They Met | Ricky and Jessica came into each other’s lives the day a Snapchat was sent to the other by mistake. After the mishap, the two couldn’t stop talking. Every day, their love grows stronger and stronger like magic. Now, Ricky and Jessica are the best of friends and partners in crime. On the day Ricky proposed, he had his sisters go over to their place and decorate it with 120 balloons. When they returned from a dinner at her parent’s house, Ricky got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. It was intimate just the way they wanted it to be. The Ceremony | Omega Photo Studio captured every special moment of the day, starting with the tradi-

tional Jewish ceremony. Jessica performed the custom of turning Ricky around seven times for good luck and Ricky finished it off by breaking the glass. “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley played as he walked down the aisle and “L’envie d’aimer” by Daniel Lévi played as she did. The Reception & Decor| Guests were greeted by an assortment of delicious food at cocktail hour that included a deli, sushi and Asian station. For the decor, fairytale vibes was the overall theme. Sparkly silver leaves and glass bulbs hung from the candelabras at each table, while pops of pink were incorporated into the favour boxes and flowers to match the lighting.

How They Met | Alessia and Robert met through a mutual friend when they were 14 years old in the locker room of their high school. Neither had spoken to the other before, but after their first meeting, they constantly saw each other in and around school. A few weeks later they went on their first date to the movies and the rest is history…lots of history! In September of 2018, Robert surprised Alessia with a vacation to Punta Cana with a group of friends where she was convinced he would propose. As each day came and nothing happened she was beginning to believe that maybe he wouldn’t, however on the last day of the trip, they went for a boat ride to the beautiful Macao Beach. Robert took Alessia for a walk and shortly after began confessing his love for her before taking out the ring and asking her to marry him. She was so ecstatic he didn’t have time to get down on one knee. She burst into tears and jumped into his arms happily saying “yes” 17 years later. The Ceremony | Alessia and Robert celebrated their big day by filling La Bullerie’s beautiful vineyard space with tons of fresh flowers. Their friend Angela (whose also Alessia’s hairdresser) officiated the ceremony, while the ring bearer was the newlywed’s cute little dog, Luppo—by far one of the most memorable moments from the ceremony.

The Reception | In appreciation of the gorgeous setting, cocktail hour took place outdoors. Long wooden tables featured scrumptious charcuterie boards alongside a wood burning stove making fresh focaccia pizza. In addition, canapés passed around included poke bowls, tartar, mini tacos and mini lamb chops. Great music played while everyone enjoyed champagne and wine.

Ceremony & Reception: La Bullerie Catering: La Bullerie
The Decor | To reflect a theme of rustic elegance, Alessia incorporated plenty of eucalyptus elements, gold decor and baby’s breath. A greenery photo booth backdrop was placed at the entrance for guests to take photos with; a gold frame mirror made up the seating chart; gold cutlery was paired with gold-rimmed dishes; and the head table featured cascading greenery with tall candlesticks. To match the white draping surrounding the space, a white dance floor was laid down in the middle. Thanks to Luxury Moment Photography, every detail was captured with ease.

The Bride Says…
“BREATHE! Planning a wedding can be stressful if you let it be. Remember at the heart of it all why you decided to declare your commitment to each other in such a grand way... Love should always be the answer.”
How They Met | Elizabeth and Michael met online over the Christmas holidays back in 2014. They made a point of speaking through the app regularly and after a whole month, finally had their first date in person. Though it may have taken time to meet, when the moment came, both knew they were meant for each other. Once Elizabeth arrived home from the date, she deleted the app. She knew he was the one. The Ceremony | The ceremony at Le Windsor Ballrooms was particularly special to Elizabeth and Michael because it incorporated family elements that some guests weren’t aware of until after. The officiant, Storm Moore, was the bride’s first cousin (when he got married 25 years earlier, Elizabeth was a junior bridesmaid at his wedding); Michael’s uncle wrote a poem that
was read by his groomsman; and both mothers’ took part by reading poems to the couple. Needless to say, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. All the guests later professed to the newlyweds how genuine and moving it all was. The Decor | Elizabeth and Michael would describe their chic wedding as an elegant affair with urban downtown flair. After visiting the Elegant Wedding Bridal Showcase in 2017, Elizabeth immediately fell in love with what Fleur & Sense had on display at her booth and asked her to recreate it for her special day. The arch for the ceremony followed the same idea of compact and filled arrangements, while some florals in the centrepieces changed so that guests could take them home. Andrew Monia Photografikart was there to capture every moment perfectly.
