Muchos Recursos para Vivir Mejor

Nunca aprendí a leer o escribir, así que se me hace muy difícil saber lo que dicen documentos cuando llegan a mi casa. Hace algo complicado la vida no poder leer, pero hace muchos años por casualidad encontré a El Centro y desde entonces, ellos han sido un gran apoyo. No solamente me ayudan a entender las cosas que me llegan en el correo, sino a obtener todos los servicios que necesito. Al cumplir los 65 años, me llegó información sobre Medicare. Fui a El Centro para que me ayudaran a entender lo que era. Me explicaron paso por paso lo que tenía que hacer para poder recibir mi tarjeta de Medicare. Me ayudaron a entender cómo funcionaba la cobertura médica y a dónde podría ir para cuidado médico.

El Medicare no es gratis. Lo vamos pagando poco a poco cada año y ya cuando lo tienes, tienes que pagar la Parte B cada mes. Yo vivo solo y con el sueldo de mi retiro, para mi es mucho dinero. Me explicaron que yo podría aplicar para Medicaid también, para ver si recibiría ayuda a cubrir el gasto mensual, por no tener tantos ingresos. Aplicamos y sí califique. Quiero que todos sepan que en Kansas hay muchos recursos para ayudarnos a vivir mejor. Gracias a las dos coberturas, no me siento preocupada cuando tengo una emergencia médica o si voy con a mi doctor o especialistas.

Many Resources to Live Better

I never learned to read or write, so it is very difficult for me to know what documents say when they arrive in my mail. It makes life difficult not being able to read, but many years ago by chance I found El Centro and since then, they have been a great support. They not only help me understand the things that come to me in the mail, but they also help me get all the services I need. When I turned 65, I got information about Medicare. I went to El Centro for help to understand what it was. They explained to me step by step what I had to do in order to receive my Medicare card. They helped me understand how the health coverage worked and where I could go for health care.

Medicare is not free. We are pay it little by little over the years and then when you have it, you have to pay Part B every month. I live alone and with only my retirement income, for me it is a lot of money. They explained to me that I could also apply for Medicaid, to see if I would receive help to cover the monthly expense, because I don’t have that much income. We applied and yes, I qualified. I want everyone to know that in Kansas there are many resources to help us live better. Thanks to the two coverages, I don’t feel worried when I have a medical emergency or if I go to see my doctor or specialists.
