SHRINE CLUBS

Last month the Shrine Circus visited Lake Havasu at Sara Park. It was well attended by 500 - 600 children and parents, some having their faces painted, riding elephants and ponies, surely enjoying themselves. The lions and tigers seemed a little unruly with loud roars, jumping in their cages until the Lion Tamer came in to quiet them. It was a great evening of entertainment for the children. November’s the start of cooler months, then comes December when we prepare for our Clothe-A-Child Party & Program starting Dec. 10th at 6:30 am. More information with shoppers and volunteers will be addressed at the November meeting. We need your help this year, there will be over 100 children to feed and shop for and also distribute Santa’s gifts. Sickness & Distress: Noble Bud Sweet is on dialysis 4 days a week, call him (855-3853) to cheer him up. Lady Fran Pell had a serious fall at home with a broken neck. November’s here. I don’t know where the time has gone. We weren’t very active this summer due to everyone traveling to cooler climates, but I think everyone’s back now. We didn’t have an outing in October, so many of us having numerous doctor appointments and what have you. Bill Huffer’s finished taking chemo and is recovering as well as expected. Marv Guthrie’s hanging in there and we hope both of them make a speeding recovery. Mel had surgery early in June and bounced back in good shape. We lost two very good members this year. Stu Lanier sold his motor home and purchased a home near Munds Park. Ken Merrill also sold his motor home. Ken’s been a member for 18 years and served as President two terms. Both Stu and Ken were active and we’ll miss them. At our November meeting, we’ll discuss the future of the Nomads and I hope we get a good turn out. This is very important. Happy trails to all you Shriners who have RVs and never joined the Nomads. Merrill D Putnam, PP

SUPPORT OUR ADVERTISERS

The Provost Club would like to welcome our new member Jim Leppert and hope his participation in the Provost Club will be enjoyable and active. Well, the 2010 Shrine Circus is now history and a success. Our Provost Club was an active supporter of the event. We were working the main gate and the rear VIP parking gate, as well patrolling the Circus area. We experienced some groups passing out pamphlets and selling items in the parking lot but they were cooperative and left. Even though there were recordbreaking temperatures, all our Provost Officers worked hard. Provost Sgt. Art Nehill and Ron Miller were kind enough to let us use their motor homes. The other Provost Officers who supported the Circus were Capt. Don Obara, 2nd Lt. Erv Whetstone, John Poth, Arturo Gonzales and John Locher. You’re invited to join us in the Red Fez Room at 5:00 for dinner and fellowship prior to the 6:30 pm meeting. Please come and join us. The Provost Club motto is “Protecting and serving the Shrine” and our mission is “To provide security at the Temple events and assist the Potentate as requested.” Join us if you’re interested working security for your Shrine. Please contact Capt. Don Obara (480-361-6339) or Duty Officer Pete Speas (480-510-4849). Uniforms will be supplied by the Provost Club and you’ll be working with experienced officers. I’m sure you’ll find your participation very rewarding. The Provost Website’s been updated. For more information, please log on to www.el-Zaribah.org and click on El Zaribah’s Blog at the left top of the page, then click “Units and Clubs” and look for the Provost Club.
