...Shrine Clubs... Provost... The Shrine year’s almost over and we’ll be beginning a new year. Let’s hope your New Year will be healthy and successful. Have a joyous Christmas and enjoy the Holidays with your friends and family. Points to Ponder: “If you think you’re too small to make a difference, you’ve never been in bed with a mosquito” Anita Roddick Provost Club Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month. You’re invited to join us in the Red Fez Room at 5:00 for dinner and fellowship prior to the 6:30 pm meeting. Please come and join us. Words of Wisdom: “It’s good to have a train of thought, providing you have a terminal.” The Provost Club motto is “Protecting and serving the Shrine” and our mission is “to provide security at the Temple events and assist the Potentate as requested.” Join us if you’re interested working as security for your Shrine. Please contact Captain Don Obara (480-361-6339). The uniforms will be supplied by the Provost Club, you’ll be working with experienced Officers and I’m sure you’ll find your participation very rewarding. Scribe, Don Obara donobara@cox.net

sun Lakes... My, how time flies when you’re having fun. November was a very busy month for the Sun Lakes Shrine Club. Nov. 12th started with many of the Club’s Nobility and Ladies getting all decked out in their Tux and Formals to spend an unbelievable evening attending the “Night of the Child” at the El Zaribah Shrine Center. The fantastic Program was devoted to showing those who don’t know what we as Shriners do to help our Kids. Our Nov. 14th dinner meeting was well attended and as always the food was terrific. The evening was spent Nominating and Electing the upcoming 2012 Club Officers. The Officers are expected to be President Dick Snyder; VP Jack Pate; Treas. Ill. Sir Roger Nicholson and Sec. Joe Inorio. I’m happy to report our Nov. 18th Golf Tournament at the Sun Bird Country Club was the biggest and best ever – attendance was great and everyone had a fine time. A special thanks to Noble Don Watkins and his committee for a job well done.

We’ve been busy and yet one wonders where the time goes. Our yearly Christmas Dinner Dance and OV for Potentate Ill. Sir Thomas Calvin and Lady Valerie along with the Divan is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 12th at the Sun Lakes Country Club. The Holiday festivities start at 5:00 with a no-host Social hour, Dinner at 6:00 pm, followed with introductions, presentations and comments from the Potentate. Then we’ll enjoy dancing to the music from Time and Time Again. Don’t forget members can bring guests to our dinners and it’s a good way to let prospective members experience the fun the Sun Lakes Shrine Club has to offer. For reservations contact Tim Stock (480-460-0708). All the Nobles of the Sun Lakes Shrine Club wish all of you a very fine Christmas. Through the efforts of the Shrine, we hope others less fortunate will also enjoy their holiday.

White Mountain... Well, the flat-landers have left the mountain and just the strong of heart remain to face the winter snows (the first of which hit us Nov. 5th). They say it’s supposed to be a long, cold, wet winter. The Club members are looking forward to assisting the White Mountain ClotheA-Child Dec. 10th at K-Mart in Show Low. They hope to clothe about 150 children this year. It will be their 26th year of service to the White Mountain needy children. A family in Snowflake was burned out of their house in October and the Clothe-a-Childe Club helped out 4 children and the parents with much needed clothing. Club Officers for 2012 were Elected at the October meeting: Pres. Dick Doane; 1st VP Max Long; 2nd VP Larry Logan; Sec. Jim Fugate; Treas. Jack Wade and Chaplain Joe Couey. Our 2012 major fund-raiser will be raffling off a sleek Shriner GoKart, which was one of 8 the Club used to ride in Parades. It even has 2 speakers and a boom box. This is the last one around and has been donated to the Club by President Emeritus Max Long. Look for raffle tickets at upcoming Stated Meetings in Phoenix. Of course, we’ll hold the infamous “worm races” again in 2012 beginning on Derby Day, May 5th. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and successful New Year.

Yavapai County... At the last Yavapai County Shrine Club General Meeting Nov. 10th, the following were voted in as 2012 Officers: Pres. Richard Guinn and Lady Jeanne Nugent; 1st VP James Robinson and Lady Diane; 2nd VP George Krob and Lady Theo; Sec. is Vacant at this time; Treas. Gene Fox. Thanks, and Happy Holidays to all from the Yavapai County Shrine Club! Hersh Eaton Past President Stan Thomas going to his cart at the Sun Lakes Shrine Club Golf Classic at Sun Bird Country Club
