It’s important to be sustainable because there are limited resources in the world and sustainability is connected to various major issues, such as climate change, preserving the environment. Now making a big change begins with small steps, everyone working together and contributing towards the change is how it leads to the big change. There are small things that anyone can do in their daily life that will help the environment in the long run. .As the summer is right around the corner here are some useful sustainability tips for how you can make sustainable choices.
1. Avoid plastic cutlery, plates
During the summer it’s so common to have picnics outside or near the beach, in the woods, or in the mountains. Most of the time people tend to use one time use cutlery and plates, which is indeed practical, but it is possible to be sustainable while using one time use items, opt for the biodegradable materials, wood, or paper or even try to use real/normal cutlery whenever possible.
2. Reusable cups
Another one of the most used is cups, try to switch to reusable kind, they are fashionable and also super easy to use. One of the best things about this is they can be used year long, in the summers they can keep your cold drinks cold, and in the winter they can store hot drinks and keep them hot for a considerable amount of time.

3. Use eco-friendly sunscreen
This one might be a surprising one. There is something that is eco-friendly sunscreen, and it is not just the packaging it is also the ingredients, some chemicals in the sunscreen can be harmful for the environment, when mixed in the oceans,etc. So opt for the eco-friendly ones with recyclable material packaging. This is better for your skin and the earth.
4. Travel Sustainably
We travel everyday, this one refers to traveling in general. Opt for walking short distances, biking, or public transport. Another one is carpooling, when possible, it’s cheaper, and limits carbon emission, which in turn makes it a good option for you and the environment.
5. Meatless Mondays
According to the Guardian, Meat accounts for nearly 60% of all greenhouse gasses from food production, study finds. Explore locally produced items every monday, try out new recipes with different locally grown veggies. According to scientific america, By eating less beef, we can start to decrease that demand. Becoming a vegan isn’t the only solution. According to one recent study, if every person in the U.S. cut their meat consumption by 25 percent, it would reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by 1 percent. So you can make a difference just by doing ‘Meatless Monday’.
