First, when tying your scarf, it is important to remember what type of look you are going for. Consider our first tie, the “Uni-Knot”: Begin with a completely square either checkered or silky-designer scarf. Pinch-

Most scarves are do-able; just make sure you have the right style for the length of your material. If too short to wrap, just twist, tie and go. If too long, double wrap and let the rest go Hawaii style and hang loose. Scarves are a creative way of showing your mood. Are you straight, orderly, and perfect? Or are you blowing in the wind, going wherever the day takes you? It is time to take charge and make that bold statement, knowing one piece of fabric can completely modify any mundane jeans ensemble. Remember, all the rage is BRIGHT and OPTIMISTIC, so try out that purple, yellow, or polka dot scarf.

Usually characterized by extravagantly glam parties, excessive champagne and over-the-top designs, Tim Blanks of Vogue described this year’s NY Fashion week as being “more about reality.” The week, which is usually full of parties and celebrities, had a new vibe this year. As a direct correlation of the world crisis found in economic situations, the fashion industry toned up a new attitude of practicality and security, demonstrated through the new lines on the runway by Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, and Oscar de la Renta. Heidi Klum even commented along with White House Social Secretary, Desiree Rogers, on the optimism found in bright, neon colors. These bright shades scream “Hey, the glass is half full!” With new hope found within the fashion industry’s attitude of defiance-despite-dire circumstances, the challenges of tomorrow seem to be conquerable by suiting up for any situation.
