Akron-Westfield Athletic Boosters The 2007 annual meeting of the Akron-Westfield Athletic Booster Club was held Aug. 25, 7 p.m., in the First National Bank Community Room. Board members present: Missy Bundy, Cindy Harris, Sandy Koch, Dodie Hook. Absent: Bill Brown, Greg Heeren, Sophornia Heyl, Jim McLaughlin, Don Mullinix. Others present: Joe Hook, Kim Davis, Mic Ruhland, Jon and Lisa Harris, Shane Coyle, Alan Heyl, Todd Colt, Curt Harris, Kevin Eekhoff. President Sandy Koch opened the meeting and introduced the board members who were present. Sandy reviewed the year and went over what the club has given back to the school. Since its beginning four years ago, the booster club has given back to the school a total of $87,167.23. The booster club tries to give back 100 percent of the membership money plus money from fund-raisers held during the year. This year, as of the annual meeting, incoming money was $54,797.16 and outgoing money was $55,087.54. It was noted that two board members were asked to step down for missing too many meetings

in a row. Those members can be appointed and don’t have to be voted on by the membership. Doug DeRocher was appointed to fill a two year term and Lynn Johnson was appointed to fill a one year term. Ballots were passed out for the election of board members and only current members were eligible to vote. The terms of Cindy Harris, Greg Heeren, and Dodie Hook were up with Cindy being the only incumbent running. There were six candidates running for the three positions. Elected for three year terms were Shane Coyle, Cindy Harris, and Kim Davis. Sandy reported the membership drive has begun, asked everyone to sign up to work at the football concession stand, and said football yard markers are being sold.

Salt Sales The Athletic Booster Club’s annual salt sale has begun. The football team will be delivering the bags of salt Saturday, Sept. 15 starting at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $3.75 per bag with a minimum order of five bags. Contact Todd Colt, 5682020, to place an order.
