Labelling

Please ensure that all your child’s clothing and personal belongings are labelled with their full name and class to avoid loss or misplacement!

MAKE YOUR OWN LABELS AT HOME IN 3 EASY STEPS!

1. Download your stickers at stchris.online/labels

2. Print them on adhesive sticker paper on your home printer! (Double check that your printer size is set to A4)

3. Cut them along the dotted line!

Devices

At St Chris we operate a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) approach to integrate the benefits of technology within learning. In the January of Year 2, we begin the introduction of our BYOD initiative, as a learning tool, in preparation for the progression into the Junior School and beyond. The recommended device is a Google Chromebook as we feel this offers better long-term provision to serve the learning requirements for our students. Chromebooks also afford greater usability of apps within the Google Suite; easier typing position, excellent safeguarding restrictions, plus the fact that a Chromebook is a ‘business tool’. It is important to remember that technology is used to complement and extend traditional learning skills, it is never to replace this.

Lead a Healthy Lifestyle

Absence and Illness

Should your child be unwell in the night, please do not send them to school the following day. Please call/email the school receptionist when your child is absent and email your child’s class teacher too.

St Christopher’s School Reception:

+973 1760 5101 reception.infants@school.st-chris.net reception.juniors@school.st-chris.net

If we haven’t heard from you and your child is not present in school, our receptionist will call you to ascertain why your child is absent so that we can maintain accurate registers.

At St Christopher’s we have two full-time nurses who are always on hand to deal with injuries and illness. They will contact you if your child falls ill during the school day.

If your child has a medical appointment, such as with the doctor or dentist, please inform your child’s teacher by email the day before. If an appointment is during the school day, please report to the school receptionist who will then collect your child from the classroom. Should your child require leave of absence at any point during term time, you must inform the school in writing. Please refer to the Attendance Policy on the school website for further details.

Please ensure that your contact details are always up to date so that we can get in touch with you should your child become ill during the school day.

Good Behaviour

St Christopher’s School has a detailed Behaviour Policy that can be accessed via the website. When unacceptable behaviour occurs, we deal with it fairly and consistently and involve parents when we feel it is appropriate.

We do not tolerate bullying and have an Anti-Bullying code shared with students who are clear on procedures to follow if they feel

threatened within school or online.

We ask that parents are familiar with our school policies and support us at every opportunity; consistency in dealing with behavioural matters is of paramount importance.

Drinks and Snacks

The children have two breaks in the school day where they have time to play and then eat their snack. We encourage healthy eating and talk to the children about the need to eat fruit and vegetables. Water is freely available throughout the site and children are encouraged to bring water bottles to school. We also want to encourage children to minimise waste in their snack box in order to reduce the consumption of plastic. Details of our Healthy Eating Policy can be found on the school’s website.

Classrooms and eating areas are nut-free zones. Please do not send nuts or nut-based products to school as we have children with severe allergies. Whole fruits such as grapes or small tomatoes must be cut lengthways to prevent choking.

The following food items are NOT permitted on school campus...

Nuts or nut-based products

Whole grapes must be cut lengthways

Glass bottled drinks
Fizzy drinks
Sweets

It’s Good To Talk!

Home School Contact

St Christopher’s values close relationships with parents and it is important that open communication is established between us. If you do have any queries or concerns, then please contact us as soon as possible. Your first point of contact is your child’s class teacher.

Contact with your Child’s Class Teacher

If you need to discuss anything with your child’s class teacher, then please email them to make an appointment. This will ensure the teacher can give you ample time and individual attention. Please be aware that teachers have a great deal of preparation in the morning before the start of school, and often have meetings or extra-curricular clubs after school. However, rest assured that they will do their best to arrange mutually convenient times to meet with you.  Email contact is welcomed and your child’s class teacher will provide their email address at the start of the year.

You will also be invited to attend Parent Teacher Consultations throughout the year.

Parent Conduct

Our Parent Code of Conduct Policy clarifies our expectations with respect to conduct and behaviour of parents (or those to whom they delegate responsibility of their child) whilst on the school premises or when attending a school event, fixture, function or trip.

Safeguarding

At St Christopher’s School, we prioritise the fundamental right of children to be protected from harm. Our staff ensures a safe learning environment, and all adults understand their responsibilities in the school setting. With a clear safeguarding policy, anyone working with our children must be up to date with Safeguarding Training.
