ueen Elizabeth, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, the nation’s figurehead and a towering presence on the world stage for seven decades, died peacefully at her home in Scotland yesterday aged 96. “The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family,” the new king, her eldest son Charles, said. “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world,” the 73-year-old said in a statement. he world has lost “a great symbol of humanity, wisdom and tolerance” with the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, said His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. HM King also ordered flags to be flown at half-mast for three days in Bahrain. In a message, His Majesty expressed deepest condolences and wished the deceased mercy and HM King Charles III, the Royal Family and the British people solace and fortitude. His Majesty paid homage to the late monarch, hailing her longstanding friendship with Bahrain. King Hamad recalled her outstanding role in consolidating ties, solid friendship
and deep-rooted relations of friendship binding the United Kingdom and Bahrain. HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, also send similar condolence messages to King Charles III. HRH also commended Her Majesty’s lifetime of selfless service to the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and their people.
day when her doctors said she was under medical supervision, prompting her family to rush to be by her side. The queen had been suffering from what Buckingham Palace had called “episodic mobility problems” since the end of last year, forcing her to withdraw from nearly all her public engagements. Her last public duty came only on Tuesday, when she appointed Liz Truss prime minister - the 15th of her reign. “The death of Her Majesty the Queen is a huge shock to the nation and to the world,” Truss said outside her Downing Street office where the flag, like those at royal palaces and government buildings across London, were lowered to half-mast. British Prime Minister Liz Truss hailed Queen Elizabeth yesterday as the “very spirit of Great Britain” and the rock on which modern Britain was built after the monarch died peacefully at her home in Scotland. “Queen Elizabeth II was the rock on which modern Britain was built. Our country has grown and flourished under her reign. Britain is the great country it is today because of her,” she said.

Elizabeth has been queen of Britain and more than a dozen other countries since 1952, including Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and earlier this year marked her 70th year on the throne with four days of national celebrations in June. Her marriage to Prince Philip lasted 73 years, until his death in April 2021, and they had four children, Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward. Elizabeth was the 40th monarch in a royal line that followed Norman King William the Conqueror, who claimed the English throne in 1066 after defeating Anglo-Saxon ruler Harold II at the Battle of Hastings. At her death the queen was head of state of not only the United Kingdom but also of Australia, the Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Tuvalu, the Solomon Islands, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Antigua and Barbuda.
