Roy Johnson STEM Academy will allow students to explore an education in the diverse fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The STEM Academy will give educators the opportunity to deeply engage students intellectually by allowing them to pursue their specific interests, aspirations, and skills that are relevant in the world today.

Engineering: Engineering is the process of designing, modeling, testing, and building new products and developing solutions.

Cybersecurity: Cybersecurity is designed to protect networks, devices, programs, and data from attack, damage, or unauthorized access (i.e. programming, coding and web developing).

THE BULLDOG STEM EXPERIENCE The STEM Academy will offer courses that align with many of the Programs of Study that are offered at the high school level. The program's success will be achieved through collaborations, vertical alignment, and partnerships between the school and the community. This STEM Academy will be a dynamic addition to Everman ISD, enabling 21st Century Learners to compete in a global society.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the STEM Academy campus different from a non-STEM Academy campus?

Students will be able to explore STEM disciplines through hands-on learning opportunities. Students learn academic content while refining their 21st-century skills, including collaboration and critical thinking.

How many students can attend the STEM Academy at full capacity?

The maximum capacity is 450 students for 6th-8th grade students.

Who will attend the Roy Johnson STEM Academy?

Each year the Roy Johnson STEM Academy opens applications for incoming sixth graders. For the 2020-2021 school year, applications for incoming seventh and eighth graders will also be open.

What will the school hours be for my child?

8:30 AM - 4:15 PM

Will you still offer classes in band and physical education/athletics?

Yes. Band and Physical Education/Athletic training classes will be available to students at the STEM Academy. However, after school practices and athletic events will occur at Baxter Jr. High.

All 7th and 8th-grade students in EISD who wish to participate in competitive athletic sports are eligible to do so at Baxter Jr. High.

What type of extra-curricular activities will the school have?

There will be opportunities for students to participate in STEM Clubs, try-out for sports and participate in school activities on the Baxter Junior High campus in accordance with campus, district, and UIL rules and regulations.
