DR. CURTIS T. AMOS

The EISD staff, family members and friends remember and pay tribute to Dr. Curtis T. Amos, who sadly, passed away on June 26, 2021, from his courageous battle with cancer.

Dr. Amos served as a leader in Everman ISD in many roles, Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and finally, as the Superintendent from 2015 through June 2021.

Dr. Amos was an advocate and champion for all kids. He was a beloved role model and leader for hundreds of students and colleagues throughout his 26-year career as an educator.

He was a visionary leader that will never be forgotten, with a special gift to motivate and to make people feel special. His driving force and passion were to ensure that all students had the best learning opportunities possible so that they were equipped to compete in a global society.

He was an amazing leader with “One Goal… One Purpose… Student Success!”

FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS The 2020-2021 annual report highlights the many successes our district experienced throughout the school year. Despite the challenges we faced in 2021, our vision, “One Goal…One Purpose…Student Success,” continued to be the focus of our district. I am incredibly thankful to the school board, parents, community, faculty, and staff for your unwavering support.

EISD successfully opened up Johnson STEM Academy and Dan Powell Early Learning Academy. We had over 600 early learners enrolled at Dan Powell.STEM Academy opened with over 400 future explorers of the world.

Despite the continued pandemic, Our seniors persevered and graduated with a record amount of scholarships and honors. There was an increase in the number of graduates that enrolled in college, earned a trade certification, or enlisted in the military. Our campuses received numerous accolades last year for their work and dedication to student success.

The transportation department deployed the first zero-emissions electric school buses in the state of Texas.

The public relations department received a crystal merit commendation. There were a record number of educational foundation grants awarded to teachers for their innovative ideas. EISD was approved for the Teacher Incentive Allotment grant to recognize outstanding teachers.

Our vision statement of “One Goal…One Purpose…Student Success” drives us all to provide students with the best education. We will continue to build upon last year’s success and continue “Moving Beyond Limits!”

Growth Everman Independent School District is located in the rapidly growing Dallas/Fort Worth corridor. EISD serves the city of Everman and portions of south Fort Worth, Forest Hill, and Burleson.

Everman ISD provides outstanding instructional programs for 3-year olds through grade twelve. The faculty and support staff are committed to providing a quality education for all students. The schools provide innovative programs with the financial backing needed to achieve an outstanding education.

ELEMENTARY SPOTLIGHT

Dan Powell Early Learning Academy

Mission: We fundamentally believe that literacy transforms lives and changes outcomes for children and communities. We want every child to experience the joy and power of becoming a lifelong learner in a literacy-rich environment.

Vision: We believe every child deserves to learn in a caring, child-centered environment where individual abilities are fostered and developed each day. Our emphasis on literacy is driven by data-based decision making focused on students' individual needs. We promote academic success and social emotional development through collaboration with all staff, students and families to build a strong foundation of support for all learners.

On average Dan Powell ELA served 580 students, Pre-K3 and Kindergarten including SPED, during the 2020-2021 school year. We provided data based interventions for math and reading to build strong foundation for students, monthly parent engagement events and offered a Food Pantry for the community.

The Board of Trustees approved a purchase of one-to-one technology devices specifically designed for use with our Pre-K and Kindergarten students at Dan Powell Early Learning Academy. In an effort to continuously improve our instruction with our earliest learners, the Curriculum & Instruction Department and the Instructional Leadership Team at Powell are requesting approval to purchase the interactive, multisensory technology program, Square Panda to be used in conjunction with the tablets. Square Panda provides multisensory learning using physical tangible smart letters and research based digital learning activities for 21st Century learners ages 2-8.

ELEMENTARY SPOTLIGHT

Townley Elementary

Last year at Townley, we laid the foundation to begin supporting our students’ growth more in literacy. Teachers created funthemed Saturday School activities for reading, resulting in a great student turnout each week. We also had opportunities to perform a Facebook Live reading of different stories during the year to give students another chance to hear an engaging readaloud. This year, as the Townley L.E.A.D program, we have developed a strategic intervention plan to reach the needs of all grade levels, with a particular focus on 1st and 2nd graders. Our teachers are taking their reading units and planning classroom transformations to deliver the content in engaging ways. We are continuing to send an upward trajectory trend of progress at Townley Elementary.

*An additional Early Childhood Special Education classroom was added at Dan Powell ELA in order to better serve the growing number of students at that campus. * A district Board Certified Behavioral Analyst has been added to the staff to assist students who are struggling with behaviors and to provide training for teachers in working with students with behavioral difficulties. *Think Differently has been launched at all elementary campuses. Think Differently allows for students with disabilities to be included more often in the general education classroom by providing in-class instructional support from teachers and in-class accommodation support from paraprofessionals. This allows for students with disabilities to be included with their nondisabled peers and receive quality instruction from their general education teachers. *Students in the Life Skills classrooms are receiving more community-based instruction opportunities by participating in monthly shopping trips to Sam’s with our staff to acquire needed supplies for their classrooms. *Culturally Responsive Classroom Training is being provided to all teachers across the district to help increase their skills in creating inclusive classrooms. *Selected staff will be participating in training for Trauma Based Relational Intervention to assist in providing social-emotional training for teachers and staff to better serve students who have trauma-related behavioral needs.

COMMUNITY PARTNERS Texas Workforce Solutions: 22 students participated in paid job-training at Best Western, Everman Supermarket, Weston Gardens, &/or Luby’s 24 students received Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) in the areas of career exploration, work readiness, and/or self advocacy by instructors from BLOOM Consulting 10 students participated in summer paid work experiences at CVS, Walgreens, Fit-a-Bility, Firehouse Subs, Berry Good Buys, City of Ft.Worth, The Welman Project, and Everman Supermarket Tarrant County College “A Step Above” & “A Step Beyond” programs: 25 students received training in one or more of the following: Pet & Animal Care Photography Workforce Professional Essentials Floral Arranging Basic Automotive 16 students attended TSI Boot Camp 19 students participated in Food Handlers’ certification prep 20 students participated in Basic First Aid course TCC Certificate Awards’ Program was held virtually spring 2021 for students, families, & EISD staff Goodwill North Central Texas “S.T.A.R.S.” program: 8 students received skill development in the areas of independent living, self-advocacy, leisure, and social interaction

SECONDARY ACADEMICS Career & Technology Education Students in the Foundation High School program have the opportunity to earn endorsements that focus on a particular program of study that aligns with students’ postsecondary goals. These endorsements include: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Business and Industry Public Services Arts and Humanities, and Multidisciplinary Studies.

Upon entering ninth grade, students must indicate in writing the endorsement they plan to pursue. To earn an endorsement, students must complete the curriculum requirements for the Foundation High School Program, the requirements for a specific Program of Study (POS), and earn an additional credit each in mathematics and science and two additional elective credits for a total of 26 credits.

Programs of Study ensure that students are prepared for success in college and careers in higher wage, in-demand fields. POS provides a framework that local education agencies (LEAs) can use to work with post-secondary institutions, businesses, and industries to better understand the knowledge and resources needed to prepare students for life after high school. Programs of Study are not an add-on program or new reform, but are designed to work within current systems, structures, and budgets. They are a strategy for aligning and leveraging existing programs, including the Foundation High School Program

College and career pathways are vital strategies for schools and districts to prepare all students to succeed after high school and expand the education and employment options available to Texas students. Students in POS take academically rigorous classes, explore a range of occupations, identify professional interests, build valuable skills, and feel empowered to make informed decisions about their education and future careers.

SECONDARY ACADEMICS Career & Technology Education Arts & Humanities Endorsements: Students will focus on Art, Band, Theater Arts or Social Studies.

Business & Industry Endorsements: Everman ISD is proud to offer the following POS that will lead to a business and industry endorsement: Electrician. We also offer Business Information Management I & II, Accounting I & II along with Money Matters.

Multidisciplinary: Students take various courses within any Program of Study and are required to take at least two advanced core and CTE courses.

STEM Endorsements: Students that are interested in a career in science, technology, engineering, or math are encouraged to choose a POS that leads them to an endorsement in STEM. Everman ISD offers the following: Engineering and Information Technology & Support.

Students also have the opportunity to take extra Math and Science courses.

Public Services Endorsement: Public Service Endorsement is the most popular among our high school students. With Everman being a small and close-knit community, EISD is committed to providing quality education and growing our teachers. EHS offers Teacher & Training POS that allows students to experience the teaching field. This is why EISD is committed to providing the following two POS that deal directly with caring for people.

Health Care Therapeutics leads students into the medical field, upon graduation students could earn a Patient Care Technician Certification. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is one of our newest POS and one that we are incredibly excited about. EISD and the Everman Fire Department are working together to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to become an EMT.

The Everman Mobile Food Pantry Express was created to help families across the community. Every third Thursday of the month we meet families in the community and disperse essentials to those in need. We served over 3,500 households and over 15,000 individuals. We give thanks to those who are keeping the food pantry stocked and and everyone involved.

The Everman Education Foundation was established in January 2006 with cash gifts from Alcon Laboratories, Inc. and other donations.

In partnership with area organizations, the Everman Education Foundation financially supports students and staff of Everman ISD in the enhancement of educational opportunities which enable students to be lifelong learners prepared to compete in a global society. 100% of collected funds directly benefit the students of EISD through dual credit, endowed scholarships, or classroom experiences funded by teacher grants. During 2020-2021 school year, dual credit scholarships amounting to $66,624 were provided to juniors and seniors. Additionally, the Everman Education Foundation provided $3,000 in college scholarships and $17,000 in teacher grants.

The employees of Everman ISD continue to be our biggest supporters. In the fall of 2020, they donated $87,318 during our annual employee campaign. The Everman Education Foundation also holds two annual fundraisers, an online auction that raised $13,860 and a golf tournament that raised $13,214.
