CONNECT WITH GUILLAUME STELANDRE ON LINKEDIN
GS: At first, my choice was to do an internship worldwide My first choice was Canada, to do it either in Montreal or Vancouver. But when I saw the job offer on the job platform of EHL, I was very interested because the alumni network is one of the school’s greatest strengths. I was also intrigued, not by the internship itself, but by working at EHL as a Staff instead of as a student, and about the experience it would bring me
I was extremely curious about what I could bring to the department from the point of view of a student and the ideas that come with it, also being curious about what the department could bring to me. I’m lucky to have joined a fantastic team with very different personalities but with an absolutely grandiose spirit and generosity

The two greatest events in which I partook were the Career Fair and the Back to the Roots Events. That one was probably the most rewarding event of all...
What has been the most rewarding moment or thing about this internship until now?
GS: Oh that is a very good question! I had the chance to work on multiple events during this internship. My first was the Inauguration of our new EHL Lausanne Campus which was no small affair Then, there was the Alumni Stamm event, where I had the occasion to collaborate with the Stammlady of the Lausanne/Vaud Stamm, Jenna Racine.
I also had the occasion to work Student & Alumni Apéro with Emilie Avenarius who is our Alumni Coordinator from the Student Council
Finally, the two greatest events in which I partook were the Career Fair and the Back to the Roots Events That one was probably the most rewarding event of all because it allowed me to connect with a lot of Alumni from all around the world including the Stamms ’ representatives . We worked countless hours on this event to make sure it went well To support such an event, while helping bring back a sensation of joy and friendship that we haven ' t seen on campus since the Covid , was a real source of pride for the team .

We worked countless hours on this event to make sure it went well. To support such an event, while helping bring back a sensation of joy and friendship that we haven't seen on campus since the Covid, was a real source of pride for the team.
Why was this event so unique or so memorable for you ?
GS: Well , first of all , the Back to the Roots was the first time that we ever gathered almost 2000 Alumni on our new campus in Lausanne so this in itself is already unique .
Plus , I had the chance to meet people I haven ’ t seen since I did the Junior Academy in 2018 before “ La Ferme ” was deconstructed
Another thing I really liked about the preparation of this event was that everyone was able to add a personal touch , a personal idea . It would have been difficult to do the same with other events like the Career Fair because , as an ambassador of professional excellence , we have to respect the standards we have set, allowing very little room for personal touches in the preparation
You know, Einstein once said ,
“ For an idea that does not first seem insane , there is no hope ”. I share his point of view. That ’s what my years at EHL pushed us to do . To not be afraid to innovate and to think outside the box , to me , is the core of what we do at EHL
I ’ ll have many opportunities to use what I ’ ve learned during these past 6 months . I ' m happy to say that I ’ ll be taking the position of Events Coordinator at the Student Council next semester so having had the opportunity to see both sides of the student and the staff life will be very useful
If you could describe the alumni community to your peers , what would you say ?
GS: If I had to describe this community in one word , it would be “ Family ”. In addition to being the EHL’s most important value , the AEHL community is unique on its own .
We now have over 25 thousand alumni worldwide and it doesn't matter whether you know someone or no, whenever I see an alumni, they’re always friendly and always ready to help the network Even when I have to write emails, from the first contact, the conversation becomes amicable and we get to know each other. It's really amazing to see such a welcoming community and, as a current student and hopefully a future alumnus, this is really impactful
My only advice for my peers would be to not hesitate to get in touch with the network The opportunities to meet and learn about people's lives, their experiences, what they did before and after EHL are astonishing. And, having seen both sides, I realize how much of EHL’s strength lies in its Alumni Network It would be a shame not to explore it
How could you describe the network to students who haven't had the chance to discover it themselves yet?
GS: No school in the world has such a powerful network. We help each other, we care about each other. I saw it in the Alumni department.
I would highly recommend APs and BOSCs students to participate as often as possible in the events the alumni organize, because that's where they can make the best connections, to meet new people and, who knows, find job opportunities.
Plus, it’s always great to get feedback from alumni on student life and hear about their experiences during their years at EHL I don’t think I can recall any real conversation I had with an Alumni without mentioning “la Ferme” or the “Fête Universelle” *laughs*
What were your impressions of this community when you first started participating in these events?
GS: What strikes me most is how approachable everyone is The Network always has room for its students.
There is no limitation, no individual groups, no hierarchy system that separates them because we are all part of the same family and we all share the same values and the same spirit We are curious, innovative, trying our best as much as possible, but we also learn when to relax and enjoy time with family and friends around a pint of Guinness
What was your favorite event during these 6 months?
GS: I particularly liked the events that were organized with the Lausanne Stamm I had the pleasure to work with some of the committee members and events such as "Afterworks” were really interesting.
These allowed us to see old acquaintances and to network with other alumni, while also giving us the possibility to get a taste of our future life as alumni, to learn what a Stamm was and what it means to be an EHL alumni

From the Alumni side, we were a source of information concerning EHL nowadays and about the new Campus It’s amazing to see how interested and curious everybody is They asked me what my position was in the department and why I had chosen this position I really felt welcomed
I was very well integrated within the team, within EHL, and within the Stamm in Lausanne. I was able to make lifelong contacts and lifelong friends, so it's really really a unique opportunity for which I am eternally grateful
Your internship will end soon. How will you continue to be involved in the life of the school after your internship?
GS: I would love to! Of course there won't be a week where I won't pass once in the office to say hello to my future former colleagues so we can take coffee breaks together and have a good chat
Now entering my final year of my Bachelor, I’ll do my best to continue to get involved in all the Student life activities as well as joining the Student Council.
The thing is, to fulfill my duty in this role, I’ll have to leave the EHL Rugby Committee Plus, I’ll have plenty of chances to continue to collaborate with all committees thanks to the Student Council Finally, I'll do my best to stay in touch with our dear Alumni team and with the staff that I've been lucky to work with.
Any last thing you’d like to add?
GS: I would mainly say a huge thank you to the team, to the department, to the staff who have allowed me to progress during this whole adventure since July 2022. Those past few months working at their side has been an incredible journey.
They allowed me to progress on my own, on the professional side in a way that I could never have hoped for before So a huge thank you to them for their investment and for all the memories they have allowed me to create during this time and I hope to be able to stay in contact with them for as long as possible.
