The fixture shall be treated for marine conditions by cleaning per US Department of Defense TT-C-490 method III, pretreated with chrome-free aluminum conversion coating per US MIL-C-5541 type II, epoxy powder base coat primer and glossy polyester powder coat finish in color RAL 6003 (FED-STD-595 color #14097) dark green. Powder coating per US Department of Defense MIL-PRF-24712A type VI and oven cured.

The PRL may be dropped into a minimum 232mm (9.125-in) diameter hole cut in the metal deck and secured with four screws. The thick glass dome lens passed the impact test per IEC 60079-0:2007. CLASS I, DIVISION 2 & ZONE 2 SWITCHABLE COLOR OPTION -SC Point Lighting offers a unique and proprietary designed option for two color switching within the highly certified PRL package. This is applicable to all mounting forms of the PRL in both safe area and hazardous location Class I, Division 2 and Class I, Zone 2.

In addition to option –SC on the PRL, this system requires use of the color switching PHC-61001 heliport controller with its option –SC1 or –SC2. This permits switching the perimeter lights between two (2) colors.

Application Examples Example 1:

To mark a helipad as available to land (green) or as closed to landing (red). This could be for an emergency or to designate one pad for landing among two or more.

PRL-97004-1C-G+R-EX-LSM-SC The PSL status light system is ordered with PHC combination helideck lighting controller that includes the integral PSL control unit. PRL-EX-LSM LED SPECIFICATIONS The PRL-EX-LSM (specify: color), (specify: voltage) 50/60 Hz surface mounted LED light shall not exceed 150mm in height. The unit shall operate properly within an input voltage supply range of 93V to 144V for 120V units and for 176V to 250V for 220V units. Within the preceding ranges, the output to the LED board shall be a controlled, stabilized constant current.

The lights shall be listed and labeled for use in hazardous locations: Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D & T6 and Class I, Zone 2, Groups IIA, IIB+H, IIC with a temperature rating of T6 per UL844 & CSA C22.2 No. 137-M1981.

The heliport lights shall be listed Suitable for Use in Wet Locations to UL1598A Marine Vessels (for AC), UL1598 2nd Edition Luminaries; CSA C22.2 No. 250.0-08, 2nd Edition; UL50 11th Edition Standard for Enclosures for Electrical Equipment and CSA C22.2 No. 94-M91 Special Purpose Enclosures for use at -40 deg C to +55 deg C and sealed to IP66 and IP67 ingress protection.

The light shall be compliant and tested to UK CAA CAP 437 ed. 8, Chapter 4 and Appendix C including IP66 & IP67.

The light shall be cast aluminum copper-free, heat treated and assembled with all external hardware grade 316 (A4) stainless steel. The lens and lamp housing (optical assembly) shall be sealed mechanically without the use of chemical sealants. Entry to the light housing shall be by means of conduit or cable gland(s) (by others). The manufacturer shall include silicone-filled wire nut connectors for use by the installer for watertight connections.

The LED lighting circuits shall be remotely dimmable by means of a heliport controller designed and produced by the lighting manufacturer. Option -VB: For use with the PHC-61002 or PHC-61003 adjustable brightness heliport controller, this option is required. The PHC Heliport Lighting Controller shall incorporate an IEC approved surge suppressor and current limiting circuit breakers on each load output.

The photometric performance shall exceed 25 candelas over a range defined by ICAO Annex 14, Volume II, Figure 5-9.

The LED light shall have a tested and verified power consumption not exceed (see chart next page).

The outer glass lens shall be smooth and rounded to reduce the adhesion of dirt, ice and snow. The glass shall be clear to maximize light transmissivity.

The unit shall be warrantied to withstand an ambient temperature range of: +130 deg F (+55 deg C) to -67 deg F (55 deg C).

The color emitting LEDs shall meet the chromaticity requirements of US MIL-C-25050. The high output LEDâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s be the latest technology providing uniform light output in 360 degrees horizontal. The LED average life shall exceed 100,000 hours. The LEDs shall be soldered in a factory set position to insure consistent light output. Wire mounted raised LEDs that can be bent out of position shall be unacceptable and cause for rejection. The LED board shall be treated with a protective dielectric conformal coating for protection from moisture and corrosion.

The power supply board shall include short circuit and open circuit protection and the unit shall be protected from line surges by metal oxide varistors (MOVs). There shall be a clear design element for the dissipation of LED heat to insure the LEDs do not fail prematurely.

PRL shall be secured to the LSM mounting base by three (3) socket head stainless steel screws supplied by the manufacturer. A ground lug is included as standard.

The LED helideck light shall be POINTSPEC Series PRL-97004-EX-LSM manufactured by Point Lighting Corporation.

PRL-LSM LED SPECIFICATIONS The PRL-LSM LED (specify: color), (specify: voltage) 50/60 Hz surface mounted light shall not exceed 150mm in height. The unit shall operate properly within an input voltage supply range of 93V to 144V for 120V units and for 176V to 250V for 220V units. Within the preceding ranges, the output to the LED board shall be a controlled, stabilized constant current.

The heliport lights shall be listed Suitable for Use in Wet Locations to UL1598A Marine Vessels (for AC), UL1598 2nd Edition Luminaries; CSA C22.2 No. 250.0-08, 2nd Edition; UL50 11th Edition Standard for Enclosures for Electrical Equipment and CSA C22.2 No. 94-M91 Special Purpose Enclosures for use at -40 deg C to +55 deg C and sealed to IP66 and IP67 ingress protection.

Per ICAO Annex 14, Volume II, Figure 5-9, Array H complies with a minimum of 15 candelas in green under 5-degrees vertical and a minimum of 30 candelas at the peak beam range. Array C complies with CAP 437 which is brighter in certain areas up to a maximum of 60 candelas.

The light shall be compliant and tested to UK CAA CAP 437 ed. 8, Chapter 4 and Appendix C including IP66 & IP67.

The light shall be copper-free cast aluminum and assembled with all external hardware grade 316 (A4) stainless steel.

The lens and lamp housing (optical assembly) shall be sealed mechanically without the use of chemical sealants. Entry to the light housing shall be by means of conduit or watertight cable compression fitting(s). The manufacturer shall include silicone-filled wire connectors for use by the installer for watertight connections.

The LED lighting circuits shall be remotely dimmable by means of a heliport controller designed and produced by the lighting manufacturer. Option -VB: For use with the PHC-61002 or PHC-61003 adjustable brightness heliport controller, this option is required. The PHC Heliport Lighting Controller shall incorporate an IEC approved surge suppressor and current limiting circuit breakers on each load output.

The LED light shall have a tested and verified power consumption not to exceed (see chart next page). The unit shall be warranted to withstand an ambient temperature range of: +130 deg F (+55 deg C) to -67 deg F (-55 deg C).

The fixture shall be treated for marine conditions by cleaning per US Department of Defense TT-C-490 method III, pretreated with chrome-free aluminum conversion coating per US MIL-C-5541 type II, epoxy powder base coat primer and glossy polyester powder coat finish in color RAL 6003 (FED-STD-595 color #14097) dark green. Powder coating per US Department of Defense MIL-PRF-24712A type VI and oven cured. The outer glass lens shall be smooth and rounded to reduce the adhesion of dirt, ice and snow. The glass shall be clear to maximize light transmissivity.

The color emitting LEDs shall meet the chromaticity requirements of US MIL-C-25050. The high output LEDâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s shall be the latest technology providing uniform light output. The LED average life shall exceed 100,000 hours. The LEDs shall be soldered in a factory set position to insure consistent light output. Wire mounted raised LEDs that can be bent out of position shall be unacceptable and cause for rejection. The LED board shall be treated with a protective dielectric conformal coating for protection from moisture and corrosion.

The power supply board shall include short circuit and open circuit protection and the unit shall be protected from line surges by metal oxide varistors (MOVs). There shall be a clear design element for the dissipation of LED heat to insure the LEDs do not fail prematurely. Note: It is strongly recommended that the circuit also be directly protected by a Point Lighting Corporation surge suppression device such as in a PHC, SPU or PRC unit.

PRL shall be secured to the LSM mounting base by three (3) socket head stainless steel screws supplied by the manufacturer. A ground lug shall be included as standard.

The LED aviation inset light shall be POINTSPEC Series PRL-97004-LSM manufactured by Point Lighting Corporation.

All exterior aluminum cast beacon parts shall be corrosion resistant and meet the US Military Standard Salt Fog Test conducted per MILSTD-810F, Method 509.4, Procedure I, paragraph 4.5.2. The main status lights shall flash in sync if two or more are installed. For each main status light there shall be a reduced intensity setting which will similarly synchronize flashing when in use. Additional repeater lights may be installed at the landing area and shall not exceed 150 mm in height. The repeater lights shall be at the reduced intensity level. The main light shall not exceed 250 mm in height.

The system may be switched ON by a remote signal or manually. When ON, the system may be manually switched to reduced intensity. After 30 minutes, the system will automatically revert to normal intensity. Failure of any light will display as an alarm at the controller.

When ordered, this station uses line voltage and connects to the “RTO” terminal block in the PSL system control unit. For a third party detection system intended to automatically activate the PSL system, the detection system control wire must provide line voltage matching the PSL to the ROS. GREEN TO RED COLOR SWITCHING PERIMETER LIGHTS INTEGRATED WITH THE STATUS LIGHT SYSTEM Point Lighting offers a unique and proprietary design option for integrating the PRL perimeter lights with the PSL status light system. When the status lights activate, the perimeter lights automatically switch color to red and flash in sync with the main lights giving unmistakable warning to the pilot not to land on the helideck. This is applicable to all mounting forms of the PRL in both safe area and hazardous location Class I, Division 2. 

The perimeter lights are green when the status light system is set in the normal AUTO or standby mode.



When the status light system activates, the perimeter lights change to red and flash in sync with PSL system main lights.



At any time, without the status light system activated, the operator may manually override and switch the normal green perimeter lights to steady-burning red.



At any time, with or without the status light system activated, the operator may manually override and switch to green perimeter lights.

Option –SC is required for the PRL perimeter lights and this system requires installation of the combination heliport controller PHC-61001 with integral PSL control unit option -SL and with color switching option –SCSL. PRL Perimeter Light (Green + Red) PSL Status Light System Combination PSL & Heliport Lighting Controller

Set in the AUTO position the default color for the lights is green, but upon emergency activation of the PSL Status Light System the perimeter lights switch to flashing red. The perimeter lights may be manually switched to steadyburning red or back to green regardless of the mode of the status lights by means of a rotary switch on the PHC door: “OFF – GREEN – AUTO – RED”.

The PHC must be ordered with option –M for Marine Vessels and option –SL or –SLA depending on the PSL main light classification. PSL MAIN LIGHT VENTED TO IP67 & HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS FOR PREVENTION OF MOISTURE INGRESS Severe environmental conditions with varying temperatures and humidity cause an air pressure differential that results in seal failure of IP66 and IP67 enclosures. Certified fixtures and enclosures begin to leak moist air which the temperature changes turn into condensation. This water can cause failure of the electronic components and corrosion of the metal parts and housing. Point Lighting Corporation uses a very fine pore membrane vent that allows air to pass freely, but water, dust and dirt are prevented from entering. The vent is certified to IP66 & IP67, IEC 600-2-78 humidity, IEC60068-2-11 salt fog, GR-3108-CORE corrosive gases and other IEC standards.

The PRL Point Rollover Light is a 12-inch diameter semiflush light used for metal helidecks on the TLOF and/or the FATO perimeter. The PRL may be dropped into a hole cut in the metal deck and secured with six screws on a 10-¼ inch bolt circle. The optical assembly may be serviced without removing the fixture from its mounting base. The thick glass dome lens passed the impact test per IEC 60079-0:2007. The lens and cast aluminum optical assembly are sealed mechanically without the use of chemical sealants. The light is prewired with cable that enters via a watertight compression fitting. Silicone filled wire connectors are included for use by the installer.

A procedure should be put in place to indicate to the helicopter operator that the turbine blades and nacelle are safely secured in position prior to helicopter hoist operations commencing. POINT CIRCLE-H LIGHTS PTPS LED TOUCHDOWN & POSITIONING SYSTEM LIGHTED TD/PM CIRCLE & H MARKINGS MOUNTING SYSTEMS Most metal helidecks are not as “flat” as required for the installation of a highly technical 25mm thick lighting system. Proper mechanical integrity that assures CAP 437 photometrics requires a “table-top” flat surface.

SCA

SURFACE CABLE – ADHESIVE

This is the standard mounting system offered for most applications because it creates a perfectly flat surface for the system segments. Interlocking 316L stainless steel plates are predrilled and tapped for mounting the PTPS circle segments and “H” subsections as well as all the surface cable protective covers. All the required 316L stainless steel hardware is included right down to the washers that protect the segment finish. All system lighting segments use our exclusive Marine Treatment process described on page 6. This coating process and a very thin neoprene gasket isolates the copper-free aluminum of the segment from the 4.76mm thick stainless steel plate. The adhesive (by others) isolates the plate from the metal deck surface. The stainless steel mounting plates on the yellow circle are finished in yellow. The mounting plates also replace the deck’s painted H and are all finished in white. The installer does not have to paint the H. We recommend specific adhesives in the instructions and our recommended installer is well trained in suitable adhesives.

SC

SURFACE CABLE – MECHANICAL

This is an optional mounting system intended for a “table-top” flat landing surface such as a land-based concrete pad or a new perfectly flat metal deck surface. There are no mounting plates so there are about 1,000 mounting points to be installed in the landing surface. The hardware choice and supply is by others (not included). This is a much more labor intensive installation than SCA. Note: All PTPS installations must be performed as one efficiently planned process under dry conditions for system integrity.

TDA

THRU-DECK CABLE - ADHESIVE

This optional mounting system is a variation of SCA as the same interlocking and predrilled 316L stainless steel plates are used, but the junction boxes are designed for the cables to exit through holes in the deck surface.

This may be some of the cables or only at certain points so it is customized to the specific situation. Some decks cannot have any penetration of the surface in which case the SCA system should be used.

LOCATION OF CONTROL UNIT The standard SCA mounting system includes enough cable and protective covers to exit the edge of the deck surface as well as some additional cable. The PTPS control unit has one simple 3-position switch on the door ON-OFF-REMOTE where the REMOTE position allows for a simple switch at another location such as a control panel. Therefore, the PTPS control unit can be mounted anywhere inside or outside within 200-ft of the helideck yet still be controlled from a more distant location. In accordance with CAP 437, there is a one-time brightness adjustment in the control unit. CAP 437 does not allow for manual brightness control by an operator.

POINT CIRCLE-H LIGHTS PTPS LED TOUCHDOWN & POSITIONING SYSTEM LIGHTED TD/PM CIRCLE & H MARKINGS ANTI-CORROSIVE FINISH The exclusive POINT LIGHTING CORPORATION Marine Treatment (MT) finish is used for all marine, high salt content air and other corrosive environments. The H strips are MT white finish and the TD/PM Circle strips are yellow finish. See page 5 for treatment process.

MOUNTING HARDWARE POINT LIGHTING supplies all mounting hardware for the standard –SCA system only. All mounting thru-holes in the segments, junction boxes and cable covers are 7mm diameter for ¼-inch or M6 hardware.

CORROSION PROTECTION MARINE TREATMENT SPECIFICATION The Point Lighting Corporation PTPS corrosion protection process goes far beyond simple powder coat painting. For example, the chrome-free conversion coating is the only treatment used by Rolls Royce for aircraft engine turbine blades.

GENERAL GUIDELINE FOR NUMBER OF TD/PM CIRCLE SEGMENTS The TD/PM circle lighting is centered on the 1-meter wide painted circle. Therefore, lighting is positioned on a circle defined by the mean diameter of the TD/PM yellow painted circle. The diameter of the TD/PM circle should be as defined in CAP 437 based on the maximum D-value of the helideck landing surface. This guideline is for estimating purposes only and the purchaser is responsible to specify the actual mean diameter of the painted TD/PM circle.
