Q. What does weekly professional pool service include? A. To begin with, there are a wide range of services offered and needed by the homeowner with a swimming pool. A swimming pool has several systems that work and operate together, and all must be understood. The main services comprise of testing the water, applying chemicals, skimming the pool, emptying the skimmer basket and brushing the stairs and water line. In addition, all pools need pool cleaning systems maintained, filters cleaned and maintenance on a periodic basis including emptying of the pump basket and general pump maintenance.
Q. How much does weekly professional pool service cost? A. As there are a wide range of services to cover, there is also a wide range in pricing. Most customers want weekly full-service which covers everything in the first question. So, let’s assume you have a basic 10,000-gallon pool. Service, when offered by a qualified and insured pool professional, typically begins around a $100 per month and chemicals are usually charged in addition. If you have a larger gallon pool, a spa, or other features you will pay $10 - $30 more each month on average because there is more cleaning time, as well as more equipment to attend to associated with each feature. Filter cleaning is also extra. All the pricing information concerning maintenance and repairs should be discussed and agreed upon upfront.
There are also many other pool specific systems to clean and maintain such as a salt system, spa, water feature, lights, water leveler, debris canisters, water module valves and control systems, timers, and now even remote controllers and apps you can download to control your pool equipment and features.
Q. How do I know if I have a qualified and insured pool professional? A. Ask them what their credentials include. They should be able to show you a certificate of liability as proof of business insurance. There are many educational opportunities to embrace, the

Q. Wow, that’s a lot of things to be aware of anything else I didn’t think to ask? A. Well, I would add that you need to decide if you want to do business with a big, somewhat impersonal company that may send a different person into your backyard every week, or would you prefer to do business on a more personal basis with an owner/operator and see the same person in your backyard every week.
