GÉNÉRALE

Worked as an Architecte Stagiaire Brussels, Belgium

I had been working on various projects in different scale and phases;

Greenbizz 2 (Competition), by Generale & BC Architects

This project involves a 3600m² extension to Greenbizz 1 in Tivoli, including the design of 36 industrial spaces, Horeca, public spaces, and a co-working area. My contributions include:

-Participating in the initial design phase of the proposal, which included a week-long workshop at BC Architects. We collaborated to understand vertical industrial spaces and explore different volumes. -Designing and arranging the public spaces and Horeca areas.

Rou Terre Neuve (Competition) by Generale & Ver-sa Architecture

This residential project in Brussels consists of 38 apartments, including 8 accessible units and landscaped areas. My roles included:

-Working on the DCE stage, collaborating between two architecture offices, modeling, and retaining technical details in BIM, as well as using BIM for metrage.

-Experimenting with the brick facade, proposing different brick layouts, and detailing the brick layout in drawings and BIM

A private house of 180m² located in the Berseel Forest in Brussels. My involvement included:

-Participating in the AP phase, designing and proposing different iterations of the project, and experimenting with volumetry and materiality.

-Assembling presentations composed of different views (plans, sections, elevations) from BIM. Occasionally attending client meetings.

Arthur Sleep

Conception project of a bespoke shoe store

London, Mayfair

Arthur Sleep project is an attempt to stitch tradition and innovation; from the long lived craftsmanship history of Savile Row to new world technology that offers bespoke and unique experiences to every customer. Design decisions are made to manifest this engagement of the two, where innovative production and retail is embodied within each other through transitional spaces.

Originally having the lower ground as production and ground floor as retail, a subtle transition is introduced by blending these programmes; bits of production taking place within retail, retail taking space within the production area. This mix is then manifested within material choices. Mid century fine wood and tones of green define the exclusive retail area, while polished steel indicates production units and technology, a laboratory like environment.

Internship focusing on design and production of Furniture

Brussels, Belgium

Gilbard is a design collective based in Brussels that specializes in gathering and recycling materials from the local area. With a team of 17 employees, they have built an extensive archive of salvaged materials, which they repurpose through collaborations with various art institutions and organizations. Their design practice revolves around exploring the potential of these materials, transforming them into furniture or functional objects that breathe new life into discarded resources.

Within 3 months of internship, I performed in designing and production of 2 different furniture scale projects: Atelier Libelco were designed as movable storage units which is now used for storing games for children.

Bac-a-sable was an additional sandbox built by multiple joinery techniques for a newly built residential unit in Brussels.

Errant Heritage

5th Year Thesis Project with Distinction

Errant heritage is an organisation, centre of research and alternative space of making. It tackles the idea of profanation; the disruptive approach to refined heritage objects through gathering, assemblage and re-enactment , altering the existing musicological narratives in today’s radical context. It operates by making constructive speculations: by introducing different experts to unpack other realities of heritage objects, Uses methods of assemblage as a way of creative transformation and re-enacts it in and around existing institutions, through carefully constructed scenarios. It unleashes the speculative potential of heritage objects through collaborative effort of different stakeholders across London, from institutional experts to errants of the high street, a cake makers that imitates intricate forms to a Latin tailor who makes costumes for parades each year. Errant Heritage makes an ever growing network of creative practitioners, expanding the circle of experts from their autonomous positions to multidisciplinary relationships in the city.

Uncommon Symposium

‘Past, now, future Post?

In a year of transmission from global pandemic, where we are slowly cleansing from our sorrows, comfort, lack of passion and getting used to human proximity, it is time to reflect on the moments of gathering that gives the Architectural Association its transgressive soul and let project it into future generations. -bats and pangolins- traitors that represent the remark of the pandemic, are brought to the AA yard, as a symbol of end to an era. Minoan cooking is re-enacted with Nigerian Stew and Skewers, experimentally done in collaboration with British Museum Conservation Department, Ebere, Sorrel, Gigi and many others alternative experts around these creatures. Result is the rejection of Symposium to a festive and informal gathering, in which the possibilities are shared, whilst Minoan pot turning into rhetoric that questions the future of festivity.. ‘

The Catalyst: Relational Architecture

3rd year thesis

The project is an exploration of relational architecture, when an interactive projective system is superimposed with a centre for artistic activity and events situated in unused spaces in central London. It aims to both open space for artists that are pushed outskirts of the city due to housing crisis, and become architectural conjunction of everyday life and artistic activity.

It takes the advantage of unused rare spaces of building blocks in London by introducing a system of scaffolding and polycarbonate façades to bring a new kind artistic spaces . This facade not only shows moments from life behind, but becomes a canvas for real time projection mapping of activities in the space. Through a loop system including 3d scanning of activity and projection, facade becomes an informative archive showing fragments from the past and the present.

The final prototype acts like a stage set, it aims to bring fragments of existing site (Mayfair) and Catalyst in order to investigate conjunction of two and different point cloud projections together. Rather than a final representation, the prototype aims to become a tool of learning, and further imagining the life

SIRINCE AAVS

Programme Head of Architectural Association

Visiting School in Izmir

2022 - ongoing

Sirince Visiting School is a centre of research and experimentation on Heritage studies. The main interest is design through conservation, how re-interpretation might generate an alternative ways of archiving, frame existing knowledge, yet build upon the narrative. Each year focuses on a particular theme in the Western Aegean Peninsula. Sirince Visiting School is part of Architectural Association’s Visiting School Programme.

The sacred and domestic Hearth of Ephesus, myths of Prometheus and Artemis, recipes, architectural forms, objects and rituals around fire served as departing points in the participant’s research in 2022. We have visited archaeological sites and recorded these artefacts. From Ephesus, one of the most important world heritage sites in Turkey, to Stratonikeia, an untouched site in which heirloom and rural life still entangles one another. These recordings and gathered materials were then developed into briefs and explored through 1:1 making and testing of artifacts.

The workshop aims to offer amalgam of traditional and modern techniques; pit firing is practiced prior to the workshop and successful results were obtained, certain joinery techniques are taught to participants to accompany in their making process, a fully functioning oven was built through listening to experts and making changes to test new ideas.

‘Spear Hearth ’, is an experimental stove developed by Programme Heads of AAVS Sirince. It aims to bring different traditional and modern techniques together; pit firing, vault construction and morrocan plaster.

The ceramic arrowheads are influenced from the myth and temple of Artemis; goddess of war. Different intuitive ceramic arrows are pit fired on site, than found place on the vault of the stove as ornamental pieces. A reddish mortar induced with natural pigment is applied and made waterproof by morrocan plaster application.
