EduSpots Projects with UK & International Schools 2024-2025
EduSpots’ Impact Projects for UK and International Schools
29% of children in rural areas of Ghana do not complete primary education; 65% do not complete secondary education. (UNESCO, 2020)
I believe that if students have the opportunity to use these kinds of devices, learning will be much easier and fun, and many students will be drawn to the Spot. (Aduko Savera, DigiLit club member, Kalpohin Spot, Tamale)

Two projects:
EduSpots’ Impact Projects for UK and International Schools and Universities, 2024-2025
About EduSpots:
As seen on BBC news, EduSpots exists to connect, train, and equip over 300 local ‘Catalysts’ – a mix of teachers, students and community members – who create and sustain community-driven change for over 10,000 learners annually through a network of 50 education spaces (libraries) named ‘Spots’ in rural Ghana.
In 2024-2025 we are looking for 10 schools and student teams to join the following 2 direct impact projects, which will transform the lives of over 10,000 marginalised learners through our sustainable model of change.
1 2
#Tech4Education (September - December) - help us reach our collective aim of 100 tablets with all donations DOUBLED via the Big Give campaign in December.
#BuyABookshelf (January-April)help us reach our target of 30,000 books distributed across 2025, with a focus on books by local authors and curriculum text books.
Perfect for CAS projects, Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards, or simple standalone projects where students can learn about digital and educational equity, and contribute to long lasting change.
The EduSpots team is available for a range of online or in-person education talks, including our CEO/ Founder, Cat Davison, who was a finalist for the $1 million Global Teacher Prize.
Project 1
#Tech4Education (September - December)
In 2023, 50% of learners in our network had no access to any form of digital device, and were learning ICT solely from a blackboard.
Collective goal
Purchase 100 devices through DOUBLED donations!
What could your fundraising support?
Fundraising ideas for students linked to digital tools:
Video game competition:
Host a video game competition fundraiser which aims to bring together gamers to compete in their favourite games while raising funds for EduSpots. Select the game(s) you wish to compete in (ex. Fortnite, FIFA, Super Smash Bros., Call of Duty, etc.) Matches could be streamed live, and scores will be tracked in realtime. Encourage friends, family, and fellow gamers to sponsor you or make a donation.
Kahoot quiz:
Students can simply gather students in a classroom or online with an entry price and a large edible reward for the Kahoot champion! There could be a theme for the Kahoot, and multiple rounds to make the heats feel more competitive.
4 5 6 2 3
Digital art sales:
Students create digital artwork using various digital apps. These pieces are auctioned online to parents and community members. Alternatively, talented students can create personalised portraits and graphics to raise funds for EduSpots.
Digital bake sale or bake-off:
Students can be challenged to create a cake linking to digital learning - leading to a range of cakes shaped as mobile phones, laptops, apps and more! Students can be charged an entry price and/or cakes can be sold in support of EduSpots!
Virtual Talent Show:
Allow learners to showcase their talents—whether it’s singing, dancing, spoken words, painting, coding, gymnastics, etc— through a live stream. Sell virtual tickets or ask for donations during the show.
Virtual 5k:
A Virtual 5K allows you to participate in a 5-kilometre run or walk at your own pace, on your own schedule, and in your own location. You can run, walk, or jog on a trail, treadmill, or around your neighbourhood – it’s up to you! You can document your journey using the hashtag #StepsForSpots and raise money for EduSpots. l
Project 2
#BuyABookshelf - January - March (tied to World Book Day on March 6th 2025)
30,000 books distributed across the network of Spots where hundreds of book shelves are sitting empty.
Collective goal
30,000 books distributed across the network of Spots!
What could your donations support?
Note that EduSpots will cover costs of delivery across the network in-country to the Spots.
Fundraising ideas linked to reading
Meet a local author
Hosted by the school, it’s an evening of readings, conversation and Q&A with local writers. This could include tickets for admission as well as raffle tickets throughout the event to raise money for EduSpots.
A virtual (or in person) reading marathon
Students get sponsored for how many e-books or digital pages they read in a set time period. You can use reading-tracking apps to monitor progress or traditional reading diaries. You could also choose a favourite book, and lead a sponsored read aloud of the book.
Bake-off
Students create cakes with a book or story-related theme! Students are charged an entry price, and/or cakes are sold in support of EduSpots at the end.
Designing bookmarks
Have students be able to design book marks and sell winning designs as part of the fundraiser.
Book collection
We are keen for schools to lead book collections of quality books targeting the kindergarten and primary age group, if shipping costs are covered by the schools. l 4 5 6 2 3
Bookclub
Participants join a book club, read selected books, and meet regularly to discuss them. Alongside these activities, members will raise funds through pledges and donations, all of which will go directly towards purchasing sets of books for students in Spots.

As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, we may also hold a conference on careers in social entrepreneurship, charitable and international development related areas in 2025, following gauging interest from our network of UK schools on this.

More about EduSpots
EduSpots is a fully audited UK and Ghanaian registered charity, which exists to connect, train, and equip over 300 local ‘Catalysts’ – a mix of teachers, students and community members – who create and sustain community-driven change for over 10,000 learners annually through a network of 50 education spaces (libraries) named ‘Spots’ in rural Ghana.
The Catalysts lead quality education clubs for over 2000 learners in early years education, STEM & sustainability education, genderbased empowerment and digital literacy with a focus on playful, project-based and team-focused learning.
Through a range of leadership programmes for Catalysts, we are ultimately creating a network of active citizens, engaged in developing their home communities through education; students observe the volunteerism they benefit from, and become future community changemakers.
EduSpots was a finalist for the 2023 Theirworld Education Innovation ScaleUp Awards, the winner of the 2018 Tes Award, and in 2024 has been selected for scale-up programmes and funding with the Gratitude Network and the Dovetail Impact Accelerator Programme.
About EduSpots’ team
Aside from the dynamic network of local Catalysts, EduSpots’ work in Ghana is led by a team of 20 employed Ghanaian staff, 70% of whom are drawn from the network of community-led based rural Catalysts, with a focus on EduSpots’ being led by those with lived experience of the Spot model.
EduSpots’ Chair of Trustees is Professor Gloria Agyemang, previously Head of the Management School at Royal Holloway, University of London with a research interest in accountability within the international NGO context.
Our Founder/CEO, Cat Davison, voluntarily led the development of EduSpots in evenings, weekends and holidays whilst working as a Director of Service & Partnerships in a leading UK IB school, ahead of moving to EduSpots’ work full- time in 2023. In 2021, she was a finalist for the UNESCO-backed $1 million Global Teacher Prize Finalist and is a 2024 Gratitude Network fellow.
