Who is CIC Higher Education? Our Logo The logo is the most important element of our visual identity. The triangle, as part of the letter i, is one of the key elements of the logo. The triangle is associated with power, purpose and energy representing our drive to provide students with the best outcomes out of their education.

Logo Orientation The logo is available in two variants, vertical and horizontal. The preference is horizontal on plain background however, the vertical logo can be used when space or layout does not allow the use of the horizontal logo.

Logomark The logomark can we used as a visual representation of the brand but should not be used in place of the logo. The CIC Logomark should be used for social media proďŹ le images and may be used on CIC owned images published digitally.
Maximum reduction size The optimum logo size is determined based on medium. However, the logo can only be reduced on a size that is legible for all characters in the word. The logo should never be too small to read. The minimum is set at 50 mm wide.
Logo clearance A clearance area is the zone around the logo that should be free from other elements to provide impact. The clearance should not be anything smaller than the letter E as shown in the reference.

What not to do As with any creative identity guidelines, some elements are open to interpretation. To guide you, we have highlighted some things that should never be done. You can speak to the Marketing and Communications Team for items not covered in this section.

Typography Typography is a powerful tool in the development of the CIC brand identity. Using a typeface consistently pulls together communication and makes it more distinct. The type we use and the tone of voice should be a reflection of the CIC brand identity.

Alternative Fonts The guidelines for typography are intended for marketing communications, such as advertising, brochures, magazines, and websites. Business communications need not adhere to the font guidelines. Instead, these alternative fonts are recommended. Examples of such documents include internal staff communications, internal and external reports, and memos.

Colour Palette The colour palette is intended to ensure that a consistent colour scheme is maintained in all communications. The primary colour palette is the official colour. Supplementary colours can be used to support the primary colours. However, the supplementary colours are not to be used as a substitute for the primary colours. The tertiary colours can be used as accent in the design. When using the colour palette, the 60-30-10 Design Rule is to be used as a guide. The primary or secondary colour should cover 60 percent of the space and create the overall unifying theme of the design. Then add 30 percent of the another colour within the colour palette to create contrast and visual interest. Finally use 10 percent of an accent colour to provide the ďŹ nal touch.
