Fromitsinceptionintheearly1950s,andforseveraldecadesbeyondthat,theheartoftheMcDonaldization processlayinbrick-and-mortarstructuresdevotedtoconsumption(mostnotably,ofcourse,thefast-food restaurant).However,itscenterhasincreasinglymovedtothedigitalworld,especiallyitsconsumptionsites (mostimportantly,Amazoncom) Whilefortheforeseeablefuturethevastmajorityofconsumptionwill continuetotakeplaceinbrick-and-mortarstructures,anever-increasingamountofitwilloccuronline.
