The relatively new year is blessing Edmond and the surrounding area with several entertainment events. Elementary schools, high schools and colleges all have some kind of stage productions in the works. It’s a great opportunity to support the various groups. In addition some major productions are coming to the metro as well. Last week, the Nederlander and Civic Center Foundation Presentation announced its 2020 2021 season lineup. The six-Show 2020-2021 Season Ticket Package includes “Mean Girls,” Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” “My Fair Lady,” “Dear Evan Hansen,” “Frozen,” “Pretty Woman” and “Wicked. “
Many of these productions are from national touring companies. For more information on the shows, please see Page 16. If you can’t wait that long, The University of Central Oklahoma’s Department of Theatre Arts will present four performances of “Tribes” this week at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 6-8 and at 2 p.m. Feb. 9 in Mitchell Hall Theatre on Central’s campus. This comedic drama follow the story of a young deaf man born into a dysfunctional, yet loving, family. Please note it is for mature audiences. Later this month on Feb. 11, the Oklahoma Christian students will put on “Cabaret,” a musical performance featuring songs from various musicals. This is an annual produc-
tion by students there. It will be held at the Judd Theater starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15. Please check the college’s web page to buy tickets. Don’t forget also Karla Bonoff will be appearing at the UCO Jazz Lab, as part of the Tres Amigos production. The talented singer is in the intimate Jazz Lab setting on March 28, beginning at 8 p.m. For tickets call 340-8552. If you’re looking for a real unique experience, check out Riverwind Casino on Feb. 14. William Shatner, Capt. James Kirk himself, will appear. The Star Trek motion picture “Wrath of Khan,” will be shown. Afterwards the famous actor will give his insights on the filming. More details are on Page 12.
