INTRODUCTION

“Nocturnes (for the human body)” is composed for physical movement and is written for a female and male performer.

The piece consists of four movements (routines) in which the two performers will be lying on the floor in various positions:

Pos. A: Lying on the right hand side. Neutral position: Arms in parallel position in front of the chest.

Pos. B: Lying on the back (facing upwards). Neutral position: Arms down the side with the palm of the hand facing the thigh.

Pos. C: Lying on the left hand side. Neutral position:

Arms in parallel position in front of the chest.

Pos. D: Lying on the stomache (facing the floor). Neutral position: Arms in a parallel position above the head against the floor.

Routine A (00:01 – 02:00 AM) - Dur.: 1′ – Female performer: Pos. A ; Male performer: Pos. C

Routine B (02:01 – 03:00 AM) - Dur.: 8′ – Female performer: Pos. B ; Male performer: Pos. B

Routine C (03:01 – 03:30 AM) - Dur.; 4′ – Female performer: Pos. C ; Male performer: Pos. A

Routine D (03:31 – 06:00 AM) - Dur.: 2′ – Female performer: Pos. D ; Male performer: Pos. D

GENERAL NOTATION

+ A plus indicates to lift the indicated body part above the ground.

- A minus indicates to slide/move the indicated body part over the floor.

× A cross indicates to bend the indicated body part (legs or arms).

Glissando and dotted lines indicates to make a gradual movement from position to another.

Routine A/ Routine C

Neck Upper line:

Head facing upwards.

Bottom line: (neutral position): Head pointing to the side (Female = to the left, Male = to the right).

Right Arm Upper line:

Female - Right arm stretched as much as possible along the floor (fingers spread).

Male - Right arm streched as much as possible upwards in a 90 degree angle to the floor (fingers spread).

Bottom line: (neutral position): Right/left arm held close to the body in a parallel position with the other arm (hands clenched).

Left Arm Upper line:

Female - Left arm streched as much as possible upwards in a 90 degree angle to the floor (fingers spread).

Male - Left arm stretched as much as possible along the floor (fingers spread).

Bottom line (neutral position): Right/left arm held close to the body in a parallel position to the other arm (hands clenched).

Legs Upper line: + Upper leg raised in 45 degree angle.

× Both legs bended as much as possible.

Bottom line (neutral position): Legs stretched.

Head facing to the right. Middle line (neutral position): Head facing upwards.

Bottom line: Head facing to the left.

Upper line:

+ Right/Left arm stretched as much as possible upwards in a 90 degree ankle to the floor.

- Right/Left arm stretched as much as possible to the side in a 90 degree ankle to the torso.

Middle line: + Right/Left arm stretched as much as possible upwards in a 45 degree ankle to the floor.

- Right/Left arm stretched as much as possible to the side in a 45 degree ankle from the torso.

Bottom line (neutral position): Right/left arm held down the side with the palm of the hand facing the thigh (fingers clenched).

Uppper line: - Right leg spread to the side.

Middle line (neutral position): - Right/Left leg streched.

Bottom line: - Left leg spread to the side

×: Bend legs to a 45 degree ankle by sliding the foot backwards towards the torso across the floor.

+: Lift legs from the ground to a 45 degree ankle to the floor.

Upper line: - Head facing to the right.

Middle line (neutral position): - Head facing downwards (the floor).

Bottom line: - Head facing to the left.

Right

Arm

Upper line (neutral position): × Right/left arm held above the head against the floor (hands clenched!). A note indicates to lift the lower half of the right/left arm in a 90 degree ankle to the upper part ofthe arm. The first beat after a note indicates to hit the floor. When two notes occurs after each other hands should hit the floor rapidly before being lifted again.

- Right/left arm held above the head against the floor (hands clenched).

Bottom line:

- Right/Left hands spread to side in a 45 degree ankle to the head.

Legs Upper line: - Right leg spread to the side.

Middle line (neutral position): - Right/Left leg streched.

Bottom line: - Left leg spread to the side.

×: A note indicates to lift the lower half of the right/left leg in a 90 degree ankle to the the thigh. The first beat after a note indicates to hit the floor.

Eyes Tansitions I-IV: Eyes closed. Routines A-D: Eyes open.
