FOREWORD
With almost 50 clubs on offer, the co-curricular programme at EHS is rich, varied, and designed to complement the busy academic life of our students. Girls are encouraged to participate in pursuits which challenge them, explore and develop their talents, teach them new skills and test their initiative. At the same time these activities provide a good opportunity for younger girls to get to know the Sixth Form, many of whom run the clubs and societies or take on mentoring and advisory roles.
From Monday Morning Mindfulness and Mandarin to Lost in Translation and Lab Rats, every student is bound to find something that sparks her curiosity and fires her imagination. CONTENTS

Past productions have included The 39 Steps, Lord of the Flies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Julius Caesar.
In addition to curricular and co-curricular Drama, we offer LAMDA Speech and Drama lessons which are extremely popular with our pupils.

DANCE
Students are able to attend either year 7 and 8 lunch time club or all years afterschool club. These clubs provide opportunities for students to develop their technique, expressive, physical and performance skills; whilst having fun! They learn choreography in a range of styles and prepare dances for regular performances
in assemblies or for the Dance Showcase.
Students also have the opportunity to perform in school productions and compete in an external dance competition.

CREATIVE ARTS
FOOD AND NUTRITION
Our Food and Nutrition department is one of the most popular with students. In Year 10, the GCSE pupils can extend their technical skills after school, in a 2-and-a-half-hour session once a half term. This includes making dishes such as profiteroles, lasagne including home-made pasta, and a lemon meringue pie.
Students have the opportunity to extend their practical skills whilst supporting other subjects or real-life events, for example partnering with the Classics department for the Year 7 Roman Bake Off and the annual charity House Bake Off, open to all year groups. This year the Year 10 GCSE pupils plus KS3 girls who have shown an aptitude for working with food, will be designing and cooking desserts for Diva Night, an EHS musical production. They will also be designing and making canapés for the Design and Technology Exhibition.
DESIGN AND TECH
In our fantastically well-equipped technology department, students learn the important technical knowledge about a range of different materials needed for the ever-changing world of Design Technology. This is combined with experimentation in designing, construction and surface treatments to create exciting, creative and innovative outcomes. The suite of rooms has state of the art equipment including a computer suite and three Textiles rooms providing a sewing machine for each pupil, 3D printers, a laser cutter and CAD/CAM embroidery sewing machines.

ENQUIRING MINDS
At EHS, students are encouraged to question the world around them and think differently; to be creative, bold, inquisitive and enterprising. From Google Translate to Model UN there are plenty of opportunities for enquiring minds.
MODEL UN
A relatively new club at EHS, Model United Nations is an exciting opportunity for students from Year 10 to Sixth Form to represent UN member states and debate real-world issues with fellow students from around the UK, Europe and further afield. Writing position papers and resolutions means students develop research skills, build an awareness of key global issues and hone their presentation and public speaking skills.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD
We are delighted to offer the Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards. This scheme is hugely popular with our students who take advantage of the opportunity to develop skills that contribute to making them confident, resilient well-rounded individuals. The leadership, communication and problem-solving skills they learn will stand them in good stead in life beyond school and their memories of adventures in the great outdoors will last a lifetime.

Please note, whilst we endeavour to have up to date information in our literature we cannot always guarantee each activity will run every year. Those listed, therefore, represent an example for students and families of what has been available over recent academic years. Whilst most cocurricular activities are included within school fees some activities, such as LAMDA and music lessons, attract an additional fee.
