Women's Division One & Two Grand Finals

does best.

Those VFLW games might be the only thing that stops her from a fourth league best and fairest award

Ravanello returned and while she’s still had a big impact, the side hasn’t relied on her to do a lot of the heavy lifting and kick bags of goals.

That has been the biggest thing for the Bears this season, the development of their squad and the injection of youth

There’s more spread and more contributors each week.

The Bears' finals series has been impressive. The first half of the elimination final against Westmeadows was described as flawless by Davis

Their preliminary final win against Keilor Park, which they hadn’t beaten this season, was even more impressive.

All that matters for little come Saturday. The Mores will go in as favourites and deserve to be

Burnside Heights has kicked just one goal in each of its two losses to the Mores.

In the second match up in Round 7, the Mores kicked 21.11 (137), the highest score of the Division One season.

The Mores will love the big ground of Coburg City Oval to allow them to use their pace along with their run and carry.

By far one of Taylors Lakes’ best this year has been its vice-captain Rebecca Foggie.

Foggie has continued to show her skills throughout the finals series, proving the fact she is a true all-rounder.

Strong in defence with stunning pack marks, hot in midfield with a fast run, Foggie has also shown a strong display up forward which has led to 14 goals this year, and a league-leading 14 best-player listings.

“She is an absolute superstar,” Lions coach Joe Antonetti said in praise.

“She sees a need where we need her and she’ll put herself in that hole every week, and she’s just a great leader

“We’re rapt and very, very lucky to have her.”

While the Dogs may come hard and fast at the Lions, they know how to respond well

Taylors Lakes has one of the best ball movement strategies in the game, and string together effective passages of play which have led to crucial goals.

Threading the big sticks in nearly every game this season, co-captain Stef Valerio is one of her side’s greatest assets and equally leads the division with 36 goals

Charlie Goodwin and Courtney McCormack also produce showstopping footy with the two always finding the footy when it matters most and under pressure.

Although the side trailed their opponents in the opener, they soon turned things around to show signs of a comeback. But it had come too late as Oak Park managed to get the win in the gritty contest.

Hillside continued their dominant campaign to defeat Essendon Doutta Stars in the elimination final by 99 points

Right from the opening bounce, the Sharks were switched on and cruised to victory, keeping their premiership aspirations well and truly alive.

Aberfeldie has been a regular in the August fixture, last meeting the Sharks in last year's preliminary final where they defeated the Sharks by 36 points at Lakeside Reserve

It was a straight sets exit for Hillside in the 2024 campaign, but it will no doubt be much better for the experience this time around.

The preliminary final will mark the fourth time the two have met this season Aberfeldie currently has a winning record against the Sharks of 2-1 after victories in Rounds 8 and 14.

But the Sharks will be eager to reverse that trend with a maiden Premier Division grand final spot on the line.

Each encounter saw the rivalry only intensify.

The upcoming preliminary final is not just about pride, but also progression to the biggest game on the fixture.

Both sides will need to dig deep if they want to be there on the big stage.

The two sides last met back in Round 9 with Pascoe Vale picking up a 186-point win, with Rhys Ritchie booting a game-high seven goals.

Maribyrnong Park will be looking to break their six-game losing streak, when they take on Greenvale at Monk Oval.

The first season back in the top flight has been an up and down year for Brodie Holland’s men with the Lions inside the top five for most of the year, however will miss the finals.

2025 has been a year to forget for Greenvale with the Jets notching up just the five wins for the year and are currently in ninth spot.

It will, however, be a day to celebrate for Greenvale as they farewell legendary coach Darren Bewick after five seasons at the helm

Earlier in the year Marby came away with the four points, defeating the Jets 30 points with superstar forward Jaye Bowden kicking five goals.

One that will be hoping to finish the season on a high is Sam Calleri

The small forward has had another excellent season booting 25 goals from his 15 games which is the second most for the Lions behind Bowden.

The 22-year-old had his best game for the last year kicking five goals against a rock solid Keilor backline, and will be hoping he can produce something special one more time in 2025.

The midfield battle is also set to be an exciting factor here.

A strength of West Coburg’s, their midfield is almost unstoppable when in sync and this shapes as a potential determinant of the final outcome.

The Burgers average 44 clearances a game, the third highest in the competition, while Hillside are ranked last with 36 a game.

The Sharks must turn up to contest and be impactful at stoppage if they are to be competitive here.

Nullifying star Burgers like Tom Baravi and the ever-improving Iesa Saad at the contest will be pivotal. These two are proven ball winners and will no doubt be the ones driving West Coburg forward.

For the Sharks, they are ranked at the top of the competition for intercept possessions and score involvements.

Their ability to mark the ball in defence, and then chain up through handballing has been the highlight of their game style this season.

The Burgers will need to be alert to this, and will need to locate quickly on turnover or they will get burnt going back the other way.

Vice-captain Josh Covelli is the obvious one to watch for the Sharks. The imposing fullforward is inching closer and closer to raising the bat, and with just 11 goals required to reach the ton, the Sharks will no doubt be looking for him.

their game, then the result could be much different to last week.

One side is flying, and one side is trying to recapture their brilliant best. One thing is for sure - these two sides are set to light up Sewell Reserve on Sunday.

After what was a thrilling end to the home and away season, Rupertswood and Coburg Districts will clash in an elimination final as finals football kicks off at Section Road

With both clubs narrowly missing out on the top three by just a win, Rupo and Districts will be eager to catch-up with the rest of the pack for the preliminary finals.

But that can only be achieved with a win in this game

Following an impressive season campaign and dominant displays last weekend from both outfits, expect this one to be feisty.

Coburg Districts picked up a 72-point win last Saturday against East Sunbury to close off its season.

The men in blue and white recorded an 8-1 record in the second half of the season compared to their opposition of Rupo at just 5-4.

Districts spearhead Jack McNamara booted six majors last weekend to cap off a stunning season with 71, averaging 19 touches a game,

"But strategically, they've been fantastic, and the playing group's ability as a young group to be able to adapt mid-game on the coaches' strategies with the opposition has been fantastic as well.

"As a young group, they're all leaders in a way, but our captain and leadership group have been great."

Andrews said Jacobs, who was in his third season at the helm, made the decision to depart.

"Yeah, it was worrying at the time. Unfortunately, Shane chose to leave the group, which was his decision. It was fine. He feels it's a good move for the club and personally for him," he said

"The coaches that have taken over have been sensational."

“For us it’s all about making the most out of what we have and a priority of ours was to get games into kids.

“You look at our current under 14 and 16 age groups, hopefully those guys can go along for the journey with guys that we have here now.

“I think importantly for the club in order to get anywhere near the top, we had to rebuild our under 18 program.

“When I first got in here that was a massive priority of ours – to get a team back on the park because we didn’t have a side.

“To get two teams three years on is no small feat and that is a credit to the hard work of everyone around the place.

Douttas' rise up the ladder wouldn’t have been possible without Barry Prendergast.

The experienced footy head took over from Paul Barnard halfway through 2022 and has helped provide the stability the club was craving.

Despite winning just five games in both his first two seasons, there has always been steady improvement, with the highlight last year coming in their win against Aberfeldie.

Due to the age and inexperience of the list heading into 2025, the club was unsure how the team would fare, however development was still front of mind.

They were very optimistic when they easily accounted for WFNL premiers Hoppers
