Lydia Lupe had always been a shy and timid girl from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. When she was offered the opportunity to study at Hudson Valley Community College, she couldn't believe her blessing. She was eager to start her journey and start a new life in America. Before she arrived in the United States, Lydia enrolled in the Congo American Language Institute (CALI) where she was able to learn English. This would be the start of what was to be a new experience for her.

She was determined to learn as much as she could and worked hard to become proficient in the language. Take a peek into a day in the life of In order to be accepted into Hudson Valleyfreshman budding Community College, she had to take the timed TOEFL test. This was a daunting prospect for her. She had to study hard to prepare for the test and learn all the new information it required.

On the day of the test, Lydia was nervous. She had worked hard to prepare for it, and she was eager to finally show off her hard work. After the test was finished, she felt relieved and proud of herself. She was thankful for the opportunity to learn and gain the skills she needed to succeed in the United States Collegiate Informer
