makes Alexandria Lakes Area stand out The Alexandria Lakes Area has been a top tourist destination within the state throughout its history, thanks to its many lakes, lodging options and things to do. While the pandemic definitely impacted the tourism industry locally, many people still found their way to the area. Many lodging entities reported a shift in their clientele, however, from out-of-state travelers to more in-state families looking for getaways closer to home. Because of the pandemic, many tourism promoting entities chose not to publish new Visitor Guides for 2021. The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Explore Alexandria Tourism and
Alexandria Area Economic Development Commission felt it was more important than ever to continue promoting the area and its businesses through this popular publication, and the decision was made to create a new publication for 2021. The new publication is again a flip book that features information on visiting the area on one side and information about relocating here on the other side. The publication is available on newsstands throughout the Alexandria area, and is also sent throughout the U.S. and beyond via visitor centers, sports shows and consumer requests.
