GHANA ALI Who is Ghana in real life? Explain your personality? I consider myself as any other city girl. I love spending quality time with my close friends and have banter. I would like to think I work extremely hard for what i believe my passion is i.e. Acting. I am very independent, optimistic and confident person. I value and look for loyalty, be it for work or people around me. I can be very persistent and definitely fearless. Who do you idealize in this industry? Nauman Ijaz How do you manage your personal life with professional commitments? It is very hard to be honest. My work takes over my life. There is nothing like 9-5 in this industry. We work round the clock. My family is based in Lahore so I would definitely make a point and see them occasionally but my mom straddles between Lahore and Karachi. She lives with me half a month and in Lahore the other half. I don’t work most of the Sundays so they are normally my day of relaxation.

that can excite me. Make me get up in the morning and be enthusiastic about the fact that I would be performing something I have never done before. My focus has now shifted to looking at how powerful my character is and how much challenge it can give me in bringing out the artist in me. I hate doing project that doesn’t give me margin to perform. I am an artist and I love to explore and experiment with my true potential.
How do you prepare yourself for a particular role? I have been lucky enough to work with some brilliant directors and teams. Normally they would have my input in finalizing the look for the character which massively helps me in visualising the makeup, hair and character in general. Once I have the look finalized then it’s easy for me to get myself into that mode. Normally I try and relate how I would feel if whatever is happening to that character happens to me and how will i react. I don’t plan. I live in that moment and give the best I can on the day. Which character can you relate to more as a person? I don’t think I have done a role that I can relate to as a person. What kind of roles are coming your way and what things do you see before saying yes to a project?
I AM WORKING ON A FEW FILM PROJECTS AT THE MOMENT. THEY ARE NOT LEAD ROLES BUT WANTED TO TEST THE WATER BEFORE JUMPING INTO THAT SEA AND I MUST SAY I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. YES, GIVEN A CHANCE I WILL DO FILMS WITH THE CAVEAT THAT THE ROLE IS STRONG AND OFFERS ME SOME CHALLENGE AND VERSATILITY. As you are aware I am more known now for my negative roles at the moment than positive. Because I have made my mark in the capacity of a negative lead I do get offered projects where I am portrayed as a negative person. I am trying to take a break from that now. I want to do roles

If given a good opportunity, do you want try film? I am working on a few film projects at the moment. They are not lead roles but wanted to test the water before jumping into that sea and I must say I absolutely loved it. Yes, given a chance I will do films with the caveat that the role is strong and offers me some challenge and versatility. Is there any Character you would like to play? Kangna Raunat has done a lot of roles that can give any true actress the platform to genuinely perform and I must say she has done absolute justice to each one of them e.g. Queen, Tanu Weds Manu and the list goes on. I think probably something like that. Do you want to cross the border and try your luck in films there? I am a person who truly lives by Never say never. I am an artist who loves performing so if I am offered a role that excites me I will consider. How many times do you watch your own Tv serials? Oh dear God, not even once. I will probably watch snippets to see how I performed but I don’t have time to watch my own work over and over again. What was your best performance up till now? I would say the best is still to come. What is your one favorite dialogue from any of your work? It was unique, lavish & dignified night of 5th HUM awards. The team, fan, stars and technicians altogether contributed to achieve this rank. As per the tradition, this year

again HUM TV awards manage to gather almost all the prolific TV and film star under one roof. New, young and talented along with Class, experience and persona actors and actresses were sitting side by side made the night even more memorable. This year SANG E MAR MAR, MAN MAYAL and UDARI were leading award winner dramas. From SANG E MAR MAR Mustafa Afridi won best writer award, Paras Masroor won Best Support male, Qubra Khan won New sensation,
Nauman Ijaz won Most impactful character and Sania saeed won best Supporting Role female where as from MAN MAYAL, Hamza Abbasi and Maya won popular on screen couple award. Hamza Abbasi won best Actor Popular male award. Apart from these best actress award was given to Maira Khan although Maya’s acting in MAN MAYAL and Sania Saeed’s Acting in SANG E MAR MAR was far more appealing. Ahsan Khan deservingly won best Negative role for Udari. Best drama was also given to Udari.

fter so long viewers have witnessed Sajjad Ali performing live on TV screen and this privilege is earned by HUM Awards. Sajjad Ali definitely earned extra points for HUM TV Awards where as Momina Mustehsan introduction with sajjad Ali as a singer was a big NO although she was looking brilliant but singing was not upto the mark. Tribute to Late Junaid Jamshed by his son and Salman was definitely a high point in 5th HUM TV awards and that inclusion made it for HUM awards. Thumbs up for HUM TV and Salman. Reema made an outstanding return to the screen. Her Dance performance on QB’s Award winning Saiyan, once again made the audience realize that there is only one Reema and no one can replace her charm & charisma. Alluring new face of industry Kubra Khan has also wowed the audience by wearing beautiful gown at the Red carpet, then her super duper dance performance on stage. Kubra Khan deservingly received best new sensation of the industry for her performance in Sang e Mar Mar.

The worst of the fashion disaster was carried by Meera. After her much confident English grammar and accent on TV Channels & previously carried dress in another award show, it was pretty much expected!! Although Sarish khan proved herself with her stunning looks & confidence on the ramp in recently concluded fashion show but she couldn’t able to leave her mark at 5th HUM awards, where her dance performance with shahroz sabzwari was below par. Her dress choice also creates negative buzz on social media.

They were totally able to pull off the one stop store concept. The store was jam packed with a lot of designer clothing, footwear and bags also. They have also set up a luxurious yet modern looking lounge for your gloomy partners who have zero interest in your shopping fest. Plus to fuel yourself with energy or to end your partner’s boredom in the middle of your shopping marathon they have also set up their in store café where you can either gulp down the yummilicious treats ending your sweet tooth or killing the blazing heat with chilled drinks. Now let’s give you a little insight about the store. They provide 39 apparel brands including pret designers, couture designers, footwear brands, jewelry designers, and handbags. They target 18-60 years old customers. They believe in employee-customer engagement and are developing a culture by offering customers their feedback and to incorporate it in their store later. They want to satisfy the customer’s needs and demands as much as possible.

Having worked with the fashion industry for a while, we understood the implications of the business. That’s when we realized that we wanted to act as a vessel to aid the industry, which leads us to a two way street benefiting the fashion fraternity and our store. We also wanted to create a space where people can enjoy shopping over a snack. WHAT IS THE PHILOSOPHY OF YOUR STORE? A one stop solution “where all brands come together” WHO CAME UP WITH THE NAME AND THE LOGO? Two brains got together to conceptualize the whole idea, so the best possible way to give credits to them was to use their initials- J&H (Jamal & Hina). Hina being a fine artist got the honors of being the aesthetic mind behind the logo. HOW MANY DESIGNER BRANDS DO YOU PROVIDE UNDER ONE ROOF? HOW MANY PRODUCT CATEGORIES DO YOU PROVIDE? Also we have encouraged artisans from interior Punjab to display their unstitched clothes. Incorporating these elements has assisted us in attracting a diverse customer base catering to both the genders. Our target audience is 1860 yrs. Tell us about the team of JnH Fashion Store. How do you guys divide work responsibilities? We have a very energetic team with diverse backgrounds. This is what has given us an amazing kick-start. We are a flat organization, with achievable KPIs which is important for a work life balance. We provide open space for employees to diversify their roles at their ease so that we as J&H can raise the learning curve for every individual everyday. Happy employees, happy employers!

Bullets and Bomb OR Roses and Humour? Who won the battle in the Box Office? Two most awaited Pakistani movies released this Eid ul Fitr – Mehrunisa V Lub U and Yalghaar. There were other Hollywood movies released on the same date but apart from the criticism, they still grabbed much of the audience’s attention and ruled the box office. The Box Office collection shows that Yalghaar got Rs.17.5 million on the first day of Eid and Rs.24 million on the second day. Director Hassan Waqas Rana portrayed the lives of the militarians in the film. On the contrary, Mehrunisa V Lub You marginally stood behind Yalghaar from the business of about Rs.11 million on the first day and

ome of the best doodles received through the recently concluded Red Bull Doodle Art project in Pakistan were showcased at MEWS Cafe, Karachi; the event was largely attended by the entertainment and media fraternity.
It goes without saying that talent has no limit in Pakistan and what was experienced on May 2nd in Karachi was a testament to the former claim. Out of the 812 doodles that were received for the Red Bull Doodle Art project in Pakistan this year, 25 best doodles were displayed for Karachiites to witness the common habit of doodling in a rather innovative, creative and interactive fashion. The Meet & Greet session was largely attended by celebrities, media personalities and members of the art community. Umer Nadeem’s doodle, winner of Red Bull Doodle Art Pakistan 2017 project, was also displayed and appreciated by all those present. “This project takes doodling one step ahead and presents it (doodling) in a

credible, unique way” said Pakistan’s top director Asad Ul Haq. “As a staunch supporter of young talent it was very interesting and encouraging to see this unique side of our future (young talent)” Asad further added. “I wish Umer Nadeem who has won the Red Bull Doodle Art project in Pakistan all the best for the Global Final” said Asad Ul Haq
The Meet & Greet session kicked-off with famous names such as Zhalay Sarhadi, music band Fuzon, Asad Ul Haq, Khalid Malik, Tapu Javeri, Adnan Pardesy to name a few gracing the event with their presence. “Red Bull has always been committed to promoting talent amongst the youth”, said famous RJ, TV actor Khalid Malik. “Whether it’s music, sport and now arts! They (Red Bull) are the initiators”, Malik further added. This was not the first but the third time the project was executed in Pakistan. This year 812 doodles were received via both submission online and submission box. Out of 812, 10 doodles were shortlisted based on the number of votes received. Once
shortlisted Samya Arif, S.M. Raza and Saad Irfan, the three judges of the competition, reviewed each of the 10 doodles on April 21st with the aim to select the best doodle to both represent Pakistan and compete with some of the best doodlers from around the world at the Red Bull Doodle Art Global Final. After hours of discussion, thought and consideration the 3 judges crowned ‘Umer Nadeem’ from National College of Arts, Rawalpindi as Red Bull Doodle Art Pakistan Winner 2017. Umer will now head to the Global Final where National Winners from at least 40 countries will be flown out to a yet to be determined location and participate in creating virtual reality art, which will then be exhibited at a global virtual gallery. “A project of such nature opens a lot of opportunities for artist and non artist community of Pakistan to share their creativity” said Samya Arif, a famous visual artist based in Karachi and also one of the 3 judges of the competition. “It’s a great endeavor and am glad to be part of it” further added Samya.

T
he Galaxy S8 and S8+ were designed to make people remember why ultra-premium phones exist, and to firmly establish Samsung at the top of the market as far as innovation, design and manufacturing are concerned. Very few companies could even attempt to pull something like this off - but has Samsung finally managed to? We’ve spent enough time with the new Galaxy S siblings to tell you. The S8 and S8+ are the mainstream phones on the

market that prioritize screen real estate over bezels, the Galaxy S8 series has extended its display from a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio to a massive 18.5:9. Along with curved edges and a high-contrast AMOLED display, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have a truly futuristic design. In term of specs, Galaxy S8 and S8+ are the same device, minus the display size and battery size. Inside both devices you will find a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB built-in storage,

microSD support, NFC, iris scanner, fingerprint reader, facial recognition technology, 12MP rear-facing Dual Pixel camera, 8MP front-facing camera, IP68 water and dust resistance, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack (no courage!), MST for Samsung Pay, and Android 7.0 “Nougat.” For the differing specs, the S8 features a 5.8″ Infinity Super AMOLED (Quad HD+, 2960×1440, 571ppi) display and 3,000mAh battery, while the S8+ features a 6.2″ Infinity Super AMOLED (Quad HD+, 2960×1440, 529ppi) display and 3,500mAh battery. The glass front and rear both curve at the sides to meet a metal frame forming an almost perfectly continuous surface. Samsung has been doing curved glass for multiple generations now, and is so confident of this design’s merits that it decided not to even bother producing a flat version of the Galaxy S8. Both the S8 and the S8+ feel extremely smooth, but somehow Samsung has managed to avoid making them too slippery. Anything less than Android 7.0 and we would have been disappointed. However, you’ll hardly recognize it, thanks to Samsung’s newly rechristened “Samsung Experience” UI. It’s been reworked so that your fingers don’t need to be able to reach the bottom of the screen all the time - by default, swiping up or down anywhere on the home screen will take you to the app drawer. You swipe left or right to go between home screens as well as app drawer pages, and both have the same icon grid positioning and spacing, so you might not always know which way you need to go. The rear-facing shooter is 12MP, f/1.7 with phase detection auto focus, OIS, 1.4 µm, 4K video support, slow-mo (not 1000FPS as was reported), and support for 60FPS at FHD. This all adds up to a fantastic shooting experience, with the auto focus speed really blowing the doors down.

What we learned is that you can’t go wrong with any of the high-end smartphone shooting experiences, with the S8 really excelling in certain areas. It does have its cons, though. For example, the S8 tends to let in a lot of light, leaving some pictures overexposed. It does handle color quite well, especially purples and greens. I’ve found that Samsung phones deliver a certain warmness to photos, too, which others may see as just a yellowish hue. A lot of this is subjective, so I’ll typically just let the photos speak for themselves. In the Galaxy S8 and S8+, though, the iris scanner is vastly improved. While you still need to hold the phone towards your face while looking at the top of the screen. On the whole, though, iris-scanning provides near-instant logins – making the tech highly practical for the first time. Battery life is very good, and had one of the best flagships scores we’ve seen in our benchmark. Streaming video over Wi-Fi (with screen brightness set at a consistent level) it dropped 9 percent per hour. For comparison’s sake, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus each dropped 12 percent per hour, the Google Pixel XL lost 11 percent. In more anecdotal terms, it hasn’t given me any problems, usually finishing a full day with 40 percent or more left in the battery. And if you need a quick refill, it supports quick charging and wireless charging. Storage is generous and simple: Each model of the S8 or S8+ gives you 64 GB of internal storage along with microSD expansion. If you want the very best that smartphones have to offer today – and Samsung’s most impressive handset to date – the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are as close to perfect as we’ve seen in any smartphone. Samsung appears to have grown up, making an absolute beast of a phone in 2017. The S8 and S8+ mark a major milestone in smartphone evolution.

Ans: I choose London as we were showcasing our latest formal collection at the PFW 11 LONDON. Q2: If you have to name your travel experience, what would it be? Ans: Mesmerizing Q3: What was the hardest adjustment you had to make? Ans: In London the hardest part has always been the small room as we in Pakistan are used to pretty big rooms. Q4: What has been the most interesting item of food you’ve tasted there? Ans: Loved the Pizzeria at Harrods plus the chef sings live for you it’s pretty interesting. Q5: Do you call yourself a tourist or a traveller? Ans: I am definitely a tourist. Q 6: How many gadgets did you carry with yourself? Ans: I carried my cell phone off course and just my laptop. EBUZZ

Q7: What was the best place to stay in? Ans: As my family was coming from USA for the show so opted for Grand Plaza Apartments and they were really nice. Q8: where would you revisit? Would you ever move to any of those cities? Ans: I Love London anyway and I love visiting London so yah I will keep visiting London. Q9: What was the most surprising thing you saw or did? Ans: Been to London a lot so nothing surprises me anymore. 10: If you could Re-live five minutes of the trip, which five minutes would it be? Ans: I had to do what I had to do so don’t want to relive any part.
