Greetings and a warm welcome to our very first issue of GENESIS.! I extend my gratitude to Rtr PP PHF Subhadhra V Marimuthu, District Rotaract Representative 16-17 for giving me this wonderful opportunity to be the chairperson of the Editorial Board and to handle a challenging post in rotaract, further encouraging me to go ahead and work hard. The entire GENESIS team has been constantly supportive towards the newsletter and will continue to do so. The principle of ‘unity is strength’ is the primary basis of peace and happiness of a society and the nation. The peace and happiness of a family depends on the unity among the members of the family. Observance of this principle is required by every member to stand with others in time of real need. At this installation ceremony I wish each and every member to pledge unity among themselves and also ensure that we all will stand together when there is a real need. Lets Make A Difference by staying united. Regards, Rtr. Sneha G. Tukrel Editorial Board-Chairperson 16-17 Page 3

PRESIDENT’S FEEDBACK 1. I would like to thank the DAWN team for providing useful and interesting sessions. Women Empowerment was an interesting concept and I got to learn various aspects of Rotaract – Pres. Rtr. K.Deepika (KRMMC). 2. DAWN was a highly knowledgeable and enriching experience, it taught me that the gap between imagination and reality is just as vast or as little as you perceive it to be. The mock installation was the highlight of the day. – Pres. Rtr. Nitiya Chopra (SMC). 3. The DAWN was not just the name of event; it was a real dawn for all the presidents and secretaries who have attended the event. The two days were filled with infotainment and motivational sessions. – Pres. Rtr. Jagadeesh (Ambattur) 4. It was a wonderful opportunity to be a part of DAWN. A little motivation goes a long way, and a little training keeps one on the right path for long. The imminent speakers talk fueled us to start the year with a bang and finish it with the same spirit in serving humanity together. – Pres. Rtr. Jenny Suzanna (WCC) 5. The PETS & SETS was really a illusive one, we got a good overview over what should we do for our upcoming year. As simple as an eye-opener for every presidents present there. - Pres. Rtr. Karthick (Costal Legacy)
SECRETARY’S FEEDBACK 1. The PETS & SETS program was extremely well organized and managed and it helped all the presidents and secretaries to gain valuable inputs. I am overwhelmed by the wonderful hospitality and care extended by the efficient district team. – Sec. Rtr.Raymond Fernando (Sathyabama University) 2. The session which completely pulled me was Mr.Hafeez Khan’s session on the Unique Ideas for doing projects in a very cost effective way. DAWN has become a platform for knowing about other clubs too. It really made us to go MAD. – Sec. Rtr.PP.Banu (Zenith) 3. The event started a bit late than scheduled but it was very well organized and did not cause any discomfort to the crowd. The slot for speakers were pitched perfectly and the sessions were good, crisp and clear about their perspective of the topic and provided a better picture for us. – Sec. Rtr. Santhi. Y. R (Rajalakshmi Engineering College) 4. PETS & SETS was very useful to start my Rotaract year. Through the sessions, I gained a lot of knowledge about various aspects of Rotaract. Especially the broken glass walk session was awesome. – Sec. Rtr. Pooja (Chellamal College) 5. All the sessions held were mind blowing. I gained a lot of ideas and it also helps me to learn the work of the secretary. It taught me about the relationship between the president and secretary. It is very useful for me personally to improve my attitude. – Sec. Rtr. Venkat (AM Jain Shift - II) Page 6
CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE: Dear Makers of Difference, It gives me extreme contentment to share my first message for the Rotary year 2016-17 through this magazine launched on the occasion of District Installation of RI District 3230. If there was one role I was hesitant to take up in my 6 years of Rotaract career it would be the role of an event chairman. But the jinx was broken this year or can I call it ‘I broke it myself ’. To make a successful event & set aside flaws it takes a great amount of planning and perfect execution. Taking up the role of DOTS Chairman was one fine decision I made this year which made me realise my true potential. With the first phase ‘GLEAM’ already complete in the month of May ably assisted by my dear brother Rtr. Kishore, the secretary of the event & hosted by Rotaract Club of Ambattur, the team is again all set to deliver the second phase ‘INFUSE’ in the first week of August at Yelagiri. Mind blowing speakers, jaw dripping outbound activities and most of all get to know the true meaning of Fun.

DO’S FEEDBACK 1. DOTS Phase-1was wonderful by bringing some good set of speakers and the inputs that we got from the event is benefiting in Rotaract and life too. I am sure that our DRR will deliver a wonderful year along with us - Rtr. Sasikumar, professional service team (Chennai) 2. As a GRR for this year and this being my second DOTS it is undoubtedly a good experience for me. The sessions which were held are very good and inspiring, and I would like to thank the DOTS team for giving me this opportunity - Rtr. Gowtham Raj, GRR (East Coast) 3. DOTS reminded me of my RYLA where you’ll not be knowing anyone at the beginning, but after being trained by professionals and lot of inputs obtained from them we finally have a new family. The same happened again. We district officials are a family now - Rtr. Sathish Kumar, SAA team (R.K.M. Vivekananda College) 4. It was immense pleasure in hosting the first district event of the District Rotaract Council 16-17. All the very best to the entire DO’s for a MAD year – Rtr. IPP. Anitha Mani (Ambattur) 5. The session in DOTS were very energetic and it helped us a lot to understand our responsibility towards the moment and towards what we are going for – Rtr. Pradeepa, Club Advisor, (AM Jain Shift – I) Page 7

As the chairman of the District Rotaract Assembly I hereby request all your support in ensuring that we feel the difference right from the word ‘GO’ as it would take each of us to make a difference for all of us. We have learnt, shared and celebrated our differences but now its time that we together make a difference to serve humanity . Regards IPP Rtr Vijay Sundar Rotaract Club Of Akash.
