Greetings, librarians!
As you read this, autumn is upon us, and here in Pennsylvania we are welcoming cooler temperatures and looking forward to seeing many of you at state library conferences across the country!
If you haven’t had a chance to check out Bound to Stay Bound’s KidProof book jackets, test out the guaranteed library bindings, or gaze in wild wonder at the two inches of text-free space at the bottom of each spine—allowing room for stickering without covering important book information—stop and talk with one of our library team members to learn more. Not making it to your conference this year? Email me at bys@brodart.com and I’ll be happy to send you a sample.
I’m excited to introduce a new feature available on our YouTube page—First Chapter Fridays! Introduce your patrons to new titles from well-known and debut authors as they read the first chapters of their latest children's and teen titles! Authors such as Francisco X. Stork, Kim Johnson, Alice Hoffman, Rob Cameron, Lamar Giles, Garth Nix, and others have been featured to date. Share these videos to get patrons engaged and to the library for new titles! Follow us on Facebook to see new videos as they release (on Fridays, of course).
Looking for additional library fun to engage young patrons and make story time planning a breeze? Find tools and ideas on the Brodart Youth Services Resources page ; we continuously add new seasonal and multicultural activities and book club guides, including brand new “spooky” items for fall, graphic novel guides, and items tied to our dyslexia-friendly and decodables BookWorm newsletter features. To catch upcoming features in our 100% youth-focused newsletter, don’t forget to subscribe
We are already hard at work on our Tell Me More: Winter-Spring 2025 Collection Connection title preview coming in January, and until then, our Summer-Fall 2024 YouTube playlist features 20-minute segments from our publishing partners highlighting their forthcoming English, Spanish, and Bilingual youth titles for the second half of 2024. Settle in with a cup of your favorite hot beverage and build that TBR pile just a little higher. Oh, and order some books for your library. ;)
Happy reading!
