Brodart LittleOne Catalog: Issue 1 | Spring 2025

Page 1

LittleOne offers books specifically chosen by the Brodart Collection Development staff. Titles that stimulate and expand growing imaginations, providing a background to help readers understand the world and their place in it.

In this catalog, you will find many new fiction and nonfiction books across a range of topics, including Coming of Age, History, People & Food, Social & Emotional, Summer Reads, and much more. These titles come from publishers large and small, and from fresh and familiar voices.

In books, we discover other ways of seeing the world. These diverse life situations teach us the different ways that problems are solved. We experience varying emotions, explore new interests, and find other ways to interact with friends and family. Studies show that reading books helps young readers understand appropriate behavior, improve their social skills, and learn about the world around them.

Enjoy!

So how does the

Greetings, librarians!

We are coming out of “deep freeze” mode here in Pennsylvania, and are excited it's spring, which is always synonymous with summer reading planning. How are your plans coming along? This year, we are thrilled to include deep discounts on 200+ bilingual world language editions from around the world to meet the diverse needs of your community, offered in 17 different languages! You will find hundreds of English language titles as well — including board books, chapter books, middle grade and teen fiction and nonfiction, graphic novels, and more for ages 0-18. There’s still time to order for spring fulfillment. Find title lists here and contact me at BYS@brodart.com for a quote, or to get started with your order.

As you peruse the pages of the LittleOne issue this month, you will be introduced to some of the best forthcoming titles you’ll want to introduce to your eager children’s and teen readers. With that in mind, I offer up the below recap of resources we have available to assist with programming and promotion.

• Brodart Youth Services’ Resources page includes downloadable storytime activity kits, book discussion guides, and other thematic collections to help enhance your regular programming schedule. We have just added a Library Scavenger Hunt created with young patrons in mind, as well as Earth Day, summer reading activities, and more. New content is added monthly.

• BookWorm is our 100% youth-focused monthly newsletter featuring staff-written book reviews, series announcements, links to current topics, trending themes, and forthcoming holiday and celebration selection lists. You’ll also find graphic works and Spanish/bilingual language featured lists, cultivated by our Collection Development team.

• Collection Connection offers youth librarians a title preview twice a year to introduce forthcoming titles you will not want to miss! View the archive of our Spring 2025 preview in the bullet point link, and register for our FREE in-person Fall 2025 event on April 24th in Williamsport, PA, featuring award-winning author A.S. King wrapping up the day here. Video recordings for those unable to attend will be available soon after.

• First Chapter Fridays and Meet the Authors/Illustrators videos are live on our YouTube channel, offering early access to shareable content for readers and librarians to drum up support (and library holds) for forthcoming titles. New content releases on Fridays via our Brodart Youth Services Facebook page.

I hope to see many of you at ALA Annual in Philadelphia! Make plans to stop by booth #925 to collect one of our new “I’m Library Bound” badge ribbons to celebrate our partnership with Bound to Stay Bound, learn more about our new decodable books resources, and say hello.

Until next issue, happy reading!
