Scholarships
Philanthropy Changes Lives These scholarships were created by families and individuals who believe strongly in EC and left a legacy that benefits EC students now and into the future. ■ Gifts of all sizes enable Eastside Catholic to provide students with a quality educational experience and to enable faculty, student services and campus ministry to fully support our student’s growth into the best versions of themselves. ■ If you are interested in how your philanthropy can make a difference, please contact the Advancement Office at 425-295-3028 or advancement@eastsidecatholic.org.
Paul Nguyen ROSSI FAMILY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
• After EC I would like to attend college to study music and audio engineering. • I am truly grateful for the opportunity this scholarship provides me towards my education. • Teachers who have inspired me are Ms. Thomas for being compassionate and Mr. Boysen for being a rock star. • My favorite class is band and in my spare time I enjoy tennis, mountain biking, railfan, video games, sound mixing and drumming! • Highlights at EC include the incredible and supportive community, Mass in the gym and being a percussion section leader.
Tai Do WIL VICIK STEM ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP
• After EC I plan to go to college and study to become a doctor or at least a scientist with a focus on physics or chemistry. • It means so very much to receive support and affirmation that my dreams and goals are something worthwhile to work towards. The scholarship helps give me the opportunity to do what I want, and I have nothing but gratitude. • Teachers who inspired me are Ms. McDermott and Mr. Wurtz. My favorite class is physics and favorite activities are reading and finding new music. • EC highlights: Christmas assemblies, the amazing friends that I’ve made and first period English classes all four years.
Madelyn Floyd WIL VICIK STEM ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP
• After EC I’m planning to complete my bachelor’s in animal science, and hopefully pursue a dual DVM/PhD in equine genomics. I would like to work as an equine vet in performance medicine or work in research with a focus on genetic diseases found both in horses and people. Alongside a professional career, I hope to continue my athletic pursuits. • This scholarship gave me the opportunity to take rigorous classes and receive a top tier education at a fantastic high school. • Multiple teachers have been instrumental to my high school experience, but Mr. MacIntyre, Ms. Lindblad and Mrs. Shen made a huge impact on me. All three teachers encouraged my time away 8

from school while supporting me in the classroom as well. Mr. Mac was there offering advice and help for all of my freshman year. My junior year, he took the time to talk me through the stress of college applications and essays. Ms. Lindblad humored my interest in veterinary medicine and stayed after class to go over my horse’s bloodwork and discuss possible treatments for muscle disease. Mrs. Shen has been my teacher since seventh grade and made Chinese one of my favorite classes. • My favorite class was AP Biology and my favorite activities are riding horses, working as a vet tech, drawing and watching movies. • The best part of attending EC was the support I was given for my athletic goals. No other high school would have been as accepting and open about a student leaving to ride horses. The openness I received has given me national titles, a profitable career and invaluable experiences.
Ellora Ahuja WENDI MARIE ANDERSON TRAYNOR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
• After EC I plan to major in legal studies in business at Tulane University. • I am thankful to have received this scholarship and to be a part of this legacy as it brings awareness to the terrible acts of domestic violence. I am super passionate about learning more and look forward to contributing to the memorial fund in the future. • Almost all teachers have inspired me at EC. However, Mr. Morrisroe, Ms. Deardorff and Dr. Wootton have inspired me the most. • My favorite class at EC was AP English Language and Composition, and this year it is AP American Government. • I like to hang out with my friends, sing and travel. • EC highlights: going on the service trip to New Orleans (which inspired me to apply to Tulane), Destiny and of course, amazing mentoring with Mr. Morrisroe.
