Modular step units provide an excellent alternative to traditional methods, such as brick and flag steps, which are frequently installed with industrial, non-compliant handrails.
Easiaccess step units are fully adjustable and available in a variety of configurations, allowing for a quick and straightforward installation in any weather. Complete with ‘not cold to touch’ rails, the result is practical yet aesthetically pleasing.
We offer a variety of fully adjustable step units, which can be fitted independently, or together with a ramp installation. Whether for someone who simply needs the number of steps increasing, thereby reducing the stepping height, or for someone using a walking frame and therefore in need of a deeper tread platform, all options are available.

Easiaccess installation teams are efficient and thorough, ensuring every installation is conducted with minimum disruption and the area is left clean and tidy. All step unit configurations are ready for use immediately after installation.
We can also provide full training on the step unit product range and its installation, giving you all the knowledge you need, to both specify and install in any environment.
DISTRIBUTION
As well as our installation service, Easiaccess has extensive warehousing facilities, allowing for a comprehensive stock inventory of various step widths and depths provided on a supply only basis.
Our product is available from stock within 48 hours, except for special items which are subject to longer lead times. That, in conjunction with the modular aspect of our products means that we can react very quickly and overall lead times are very short. Allowing fast turnarounds for selfinstallation.

STEP UNIT OPTIONS
A step unit is often essential for able-bodied and ambulant disabled people, who may find it harder to negotiate a ramp. Providing such alternative access is an important consideration and there are a variety of combinations available to suit client requirements, regarding the number and size of steps.
We offer two core tread depths of 300 and 800mm and widths of 900, 1200 and 1500mm with up to four treads as standard. Further extensions can be provided, speak to a member of our team for more information.
Our “extra deep” configuration, with a step tread of 800mm, allows users to transition more easily between steps, especially when using larger walking frames/aids. 1 and 2 tread step versions are available with a 2 tread extension to cater for all requirements. These kits can be used as a standalone product, or in conjunction with one of our other access products and are currently only available in black (RAL 9005).

A variety of size options are available, with up to 8 steps as standard. With handrails on either side, support and reassurance is provided, and with our deep versions providing even larger treads, they are well suited for people using walking frames, or who may be unsteady on their feet.

Step unit extra deep extension can be used with SUED1 and SUED2 to extend step units up to 8 steps.

BRACKETS & FIXINGS
The range of brackets and fixings illustrated and pictured below are used to create and assemble our step units. The brackets and fixings also provide the ability to attach the step unit to a wall, or to a platform.
All of our brackets and fixings are manufactured from steel for strength and longevity, apart from the handrail end cap which is available in both Green (RAL 6005) and Black (RAL 9005) to match with the handrail colour of your chosen step unit.
UBKT UNIVERSAL BRACKET
The UBKT bracket enables a step unit to be fixed to a platform.
FXN FIXINGS
The FXN’s are a combination of bolts, nuts and washers used to assemble the step unit.
LEXBKT(B) LONG EXTERNAL CORNER BRACKET
The LEXBKT allows a standalone step unit to be fixed to a wall.
HEC(B) HANDRAIL END CAP
A HEC is used to cover the end of an open rail.
LAB LEG ALLEN BOLT
The LAB is used to keep the legs in place when they are inserted into a handrail.
LG + FT LEG AND FOOT
The leg is available in sizes: 500, 800, 1200 and 1500mm

KERBS
STEPS WITH KERBS
A kerb is a raised edge on the back of our step units, that prevents a user’s foot from getting caught below the next step. When a step unit is installed to a platform, the steps will always have these kerbs installed at the back. Where a step unit is installed from a doorway, the top step will not have a kerb, as it will be installed level with the door threshold.
This is a step unit that would be fixed to a platform. The steps feature a kerb on the top step where it meets the platform. The benefits of having a kerb, is to prevent feet being caught below the next step as a person ascends.
This step unit would be installed as a standalone step, straight to a doorway. This variation does not feature a kerb, as it is designed to be installed level with the door threshold. Adding a kerb creates a trip hazard.

HANDRAIL OPTIONS
STANDARD
This is our standard handrail option with the rail height being 900mm high with a 450mm high mid-rail and 100mm up-stand.
BALUSTRADE
Balustrade handrails are required over 380mm on non-domestic steps and 600mm high on domestic steps. These are also used to prevent climbing of the handrails and are often specified in scenarios where children will be using a step system.

YELLOW NOSING
Highlighted yellow nosing is a safety feature designed to help those with impaired vision to identify the nose of steps. We typically install this to the full width of the steps and at a depth of 55mm.
It is used to identify any level changes, often on non-domestic step installations, but can also be requested for domestic projects. Please contact the team for more information on this product.
