Where did you grow up?
I am from Saginaw, Michigan, graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Marketing, and was a four-year letterman on the golf team. Tell us about your family.
- Are you married, and do you have any children? Married 34 years to Carol (from Freeport, PA), no children. My wife had West Highland Terriers when we met; I didn't think I would get along with small, barking dogs since I grew up with larger dogs and cats. We are now on #7 & #8!, never have had any other breed
How do you spend your time away from the course?
I am rarely away from the course, but during the off-season, I walk or hike, work out at the gym, play music, and play golf, which I do very little of during the season.
What is the best part of your game?
All aspects of my short game are pretty good.
What is your best round of Golf?
70 from the back tees at the Golf Club in New Albany, OH

Name two favorite golf courses that you've played, and what makes them unique to you?
The Red Fox in Tryon, NC, we would play it several times during our Michigan State spring trips, wonderful memories of a fantastic Ellis Maples design; unfortunately, it closed a few years ago.
Belvedere Golf Club, Charlevoix, MI, is a great course in northern Michigan that was the longtime host of the Michigan Amateur Championship, which I competed in.
If you could play a round of golf with any three people (alive or deceased), who would they be?
Sam Snead, Tom Watson & Lee Trevino. All have had the title of Golf Professional Emeritus at the Greenbrier since I have been working here.
What initially drew you to the game of Golf, and how did you get started?
My father told me I would follow him around the course when I was two years old and chip and putt with cut down clubs. I started playing regularly when I was 12, the minimum age to play by yourself at Saginaw Country Club. I also caddied there.

What advice would you give to aspiring PGA Professionals entering the industry today?
Congratulate them on their decision and explain to them all that, as in all business endeavors, there will be challenges, but if they have a passion for learning and improving every day, love the game, and are willing to develop consistent, outstanding work habits, the rewards and memories will be worth all the effort.
