Dundalk supporters are mourning the loss of the club’s most successful manager following the news that Stephen Kenny has left the club to take charge of the Ireland U21 side. Kenny will also have responsibility for all underage national teams and in 2020 it has been agreed that he will succeed Mick McCarthy as the senior national side’s boss. The news comes as a hammer-blow to lilywhite supporters who have enjoyed some of the finest nights in the club’s long and storied history under the guidance of the popular Dubliner. Mixed fortunes for local athletes Local athletes Brendan Lawlor and Amy Broadhurst experienced opposing emotions as they competed on the international sporting front in the past few days. Brendan enjoyed further success in the ISPS Handa Disabled Golf Cup in Melbourne when he was part of ‘The World’ team who beat Australia by 3.5-2.5 to lift the trophy after two days of golf. Brendan more than played his part by contributing two points alongside Spanish partner Juan Postigo. Lawlor and Postigo romped to a 6&4 victory on day one in the foursomes. See Page 2
