Tension is mounting in the local council chamber after Cllr Maeve Yore has hit out at inaccurate and untrue statements from a fellow councillor who she claims is trying to take credit for work that she has done. The independent councillor was speaking following this month’s Dundalk Municipal Council meeting in Carlingford where the issue of the upgrading of sewage works in Hazelwood Avenue, Bay Estate was being discussed. The upgrade will be carried out as part of Irish Water’s Combined Sewer Upgrade Project and to facilitate these works the junction between Hazelwood Avenue and the N52 will be closed for

ten weeks from September 19 to Friday December 21. Sinn Fein councillor Ruairi O Mhurchú released a statement on Thursday criticising Irish Water for their failure to notify residents while also claiming he had raised the issue at the monthly municipal meeting in Carlingford with council officials. According to Cllr Yore she was angry after reading the Sinn Fein councillor’s statement as it seemed like he was trying to take credit for all the work she had done on this issue. “The problem with this whole thing is that it is myself who has been working tirelessly on this issue for the past four years.
