that the vast majority of our students sitting the leaving cert this year did very well and got the results their hard work and effort deserved. over half of all students who sat their leaving cert got over 400 points which is fantastic. “Practically every girl got the most out of themselves and the next step is looking over the cAo offers to see what is next for them. I’d like to congratulate all the wonderful students and staff who worked so hard throughout the year to help get these results”, noted Principal Matthews. con McGinley principal in St Mary’s college was also pleased for his students who “generally seemed happy picking up their results”. “obviously this is the first year for students collecting their exams in our new school and all in all from what I’ve seen this morning they generally seemed pleased. I haven’t looked at the results in detail yet but I believe the maths results haven’t been great around the country so it will be interesting to see how our students fared in comparison”, explained Principal McGinley. ing cert students well and spoke of the excitement and relief of students picking up their results. “There was a generally positive mood and as usual great excitement around the school as students got their results. We had 90 leaving cert students and they’ve been coming in all morning. There was a lot of nerves here today but thankfully the anxious faces turned to smiles for the vast majority when opening their envelopes and it’s lovely to see the happiness in most of our students who have got everything they can out of themselves”, noted Principal hamill. cyril Drury carried out his final act as Head-

master of the Grammar School as he handed out results to students ahead of his retirement. cyril who will be replaced by Jonathan Graham said the majority of his students seemed very happy with their results. “We had 88 leaving cert students this year and from what I can see they are mainly very happy with their results. We have a few boarders who live overseas so they will have to check their results online at midday but from the pupils who have been in collecting their results this morning I have seen plenty of relief and happy faces. I wish them all well in the future,” stated Mr Drury. o Fiaich college seen 75 students sit their

leaving cert and in keeping with the general theme around Dundalk the vast majority were delighted with their results. “Thankfully we had a very happy bunch of leaving certs here last week”, noted Padraig. “Almost everybody seemed to have got what they wanted and the consensus was very positive. one of the big challenges around the leaving cert is to make sure students set realistic goals and I think our careers guidance teachers did a great job of that. I would encourage students to consider Plcs which are a brilliant stepping stone to our local institute of technology and indeed colleges all around the country”,

advised principal Padraig McGovern. Principal lorraine Quigley in Dun lughaidh was also very pleased for her students who in general did very well again this year. “Thankfully almost everybody seemed to get what they wanted and there were a lot of happy girls around the place last Wednesday. The cAo offers were out today and from talking to some of the girls it seems that many of the girls have got their first choices which is fantastic. They’ve worked very hard to get these results and deserve every success in the future”, stated lorraine. Meanwhile, De la Salle vice-principal Kevin Brady was delighted to report that the vast majority of students in the school got one of their first two choices on their cAo forms. “We had 136 students sit their leaving cert exam this year and by enlarge most fellas have got what they were hoping to get. “I think we had 16 students get over 500 points which is a fantastic achievement and as always it shows that if you put the hard work in throughout the year you will get your rewards,” stated Kevin.
