RESEARCH My research revolves around the understanding of the military uniforms. I was inspired by details of these, with the pockets and straps and making these functional.
From my primary research, I looked deeper for a narrative regarding the role of both women and men in the war. As the men were at war, women had to take over their roles and this influenced their clothing. My narrative then formed from this as being a women pretending to be man so she can be with her husband at war.
ROLE OF WOMEN IN THE WAR.
I was then interested in the camouflage that was applied to the vessels in WW1. It was used as an act of defence so that it would disrupt the outline of the shape, making both speed and direction unrecognisable. I then interpreted this print within my colour palette to create a unique camouflage.

The brief for FAD surround scientific theories combined with fashion design. With my interest into colour changing products, I researched the light spectrum theory. The refraction of white light when hitting the glass spectrum, revealing the colours.
In relation to the revealing of the colours when the white light refracts, I am translating this effect through both Photochromic and Hydrochromic Ink. It begins an opaque white and when water is applied it turns translucent. The photochromic reacts with UV sunlight which emphasises on the theory of refraction.
DESIGN DEVLOPMENT
I began my design developement by trying to convey the process of the light spectrum into my designs. I accomplished this by having 3 different layers of designs to push the 3 stage process of refraction from the light theory.

FINAL DOUBLE DESIGN
CHONGFU FUR & LEATHER CUP COMPETITION, CHINA. This competition consists of designing a 3 - piece collection with the use of fur, and leather. I translated my final major project at university as inspiration, but pushing for the entirity to be in leather. With this I won the SILVER AWARD, for the chongu fur leather cup.
