The region’s focus on innovation extends into multiple facets of the community. A prime example is Grace Lutheran College (GLC), named as one of Australia’s top 40 innovative schools by The Educator. All students in Year 7 and above study a range of science, technology, engineering and robotic programs that focus on future technology and practical work skills. GLC boasts the most involvement in robotics competitions of any Australian school. Among other accolades, it achieved 1st place at the FIRST Tech Challenge and 2nd place at the FIRST Robotics International Championship.

Moreton Bay is home to a new technology and innovation hub that will be twice the size of Brisbane’s Central Business District.

MODERN DATA INFRASTRUCTURE DRIVES DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

Business investors in Moreton Bay will reap the market-opening benefits of high-speed and reliable data connectivity without the associated capital investment and high operating costs. The $10 million Helios Project by Titan Fibre Networks, will see neutral cable operator Torus Networks create a 140km backbone of dark fibre cable running through the Moreton Bay Region. The cable links to Queensland’s fastest international data and telecommunications point, connecting economic hot spots such as The Mill at Moreton Bay, Caboolture and North Lakes, directly to global markets. The Moreton Bay Region is also primed to secure multiple data centres supporting new industry development and business growth to 2041. These facilities will support artificial intelligence, cloud computing and webbased services, vital tools in the digital transformation of many businesses. By 2026, Deloitte Access Economics forecasts there will be more than 1.1 million technology workers in Australia. The Moreton Bay Region will provide the technological infrastructure to support South East Queensland businesses as they grow and connect to the world.

 World-leading software solution to track remote workers  More than 1.5 million safe journeys tracked  Global resource provider for multinational companies JESI is an established technology company that provides world-leading software solutions to track remote workers across a range of industry sectors, including resources, construction, education and health.

JESI uses their unique software as a service (SaaS) solution to ensure the safe journey of workers who travel frequently or work in isolated environments with heightened risks, by automating emergency alerts that enable real-time responses to critical events. The idea was developed by Co-Founder and CEO, Joe Hoolahan, after a friend got into a serious road accident during a work trip and was trapped for hours before being found. Today, the product includes additional features to manage workers who are isolated at home due to COVID-19. JESI’s technology solutions are used across 16 countries by more than 50 major clients, including Rio Tinto, BHP, Chevron, Orica and Sandvik.

A WINNING MOVE

In 2019, JESI relocated to Moreton Bay to achieve its growth goals by accessing a skilled workforce and significant markets through its strategic location. The team has grown from 8 to 24 people in 6 months, with the business experiencing a steady revenue growth of about 10% month-on-month.
