FUNDAMENTALS OF CAREGIVING After two years of hard work by our Training, Communications & Workforce Development (TCWD) team, we are moving forward with a new edition of Fundamentals of caregiving, the core training textbook for home care aides in Washington.
Samuel Cooke of our TCWD team, with the assistance of his colleagues, have completed a pre-pilot draft of the new materials. The team is moving forward with final adjustments to the curriculum and deployment. The new materials will be fully deployed by January 1, 2023.
Fundamentals of Caregiving hasn’t been revised since 2015 and its last major update happened in 2005. We’ve learned a lot about providing appropriate, person-centered care in the last 17 years, and it was past time that we incorporated that knowledge into our caregiver training materials. The textbook is used by community and facility instructors around the state and provides the foundational knowledge our caregivers need to successfully and respectfully care for clients.
