Short on CEU credits? In addition to the opportunities offered by ASID NJ Chapter, such as our Effectiveness Training workshop on March 12 with 0.6 CEU), the Society offers a selection of online courses that can be taken in the comfort of your home or office, on your own time schedule. The newest offering is “ASID Interior Design 2016 Outlook and State of the Industry.” This 0.1 CEU course discusses interior design as both a growing and evolving business. Macro-trends that affect all of us (Health & Well-being, Technology, Sustainability, Urbanization, Globalization and Resiliency) are changing the topics we consider when working on design projects. Each macrotrend has its own set of sub-trends. Holistic design thinking and higher sustainability standards are identified as the most transformative, while designing for healthy behavior and the Internet of things are two of the fastest moving. Firms that don’t adapt to the trends are at risk of getting left behind, especially as threats loom such as those posed by increased international competition and the emergence of crowdsourcing. Join this session to examine these trends and determine how the industry’s outlook will affect you and your business. Additional course offerings through the ASID Academy cover the following topics: Business of Design (nine courses); Impact of Design (14 courses, including five Health and Wellness courses and four Sustainability courses); Leadership (15 courses); and Practice of Design.
