What are Sexually Transmitted Diseases?
Sexually transmitted diseases, or STIs, are transmitted from one person to another through sexual contact. They are also referred to as STDs, or sexually transmitted illnesses.
They are frequently disseminated by vaginal, oral, or anal intercourse.
Oral, anus, or vaginal contact, among other forms of intercourse, can also occasionally be used to transfer them. Because skin-to-skin contact is a common way for some STDs to spread, such herpes and HPV.
Types of STD:-
Chlamydia, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Human Papilloma virus, Cancroids, Trichomonas’s, Herpes, Scabies, Bacterial Vaginosis, Pelvic Inflammatory Diseases.
Symptoms of STD:
There are several warning signs and symptoms of a STI, including:
Pimples or sores in the mouth, rectal area, or on the genitalia
Scorching or Agonising urination
Voiding of the penis
Strange or unpleasant vaginal discharge
Extraordinary vaginal bleeding
Sexual discomfort
Lymph nodes that are painful and swollen, often in the groyne but occasionally more widely distributed
Lower-back discomfort
Fever
Rash on the hands, feet, or trunk
Causes/ Origin of sexually transmitted diseases:
Viruses (genital herpes, human papilloma virus, HIV, AIDS)
Parasites (trichomoniasis)
Bacteria (syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia)
Through intimate intercourse,it is also possible to get infected without intimate contact. For Example-Shigella, giardia intestinalis, includes the hepatitis A, B, and C, etc.
Risk factors:
Having unprotected sexual activity/ intercourse
Having intercourse with multiple partners
Having a history of STI
