rummond has been awarded several honors for its responsible management of industrial safety and protection of the environment, especially in carrying out its port operations. Indeed, Lloyd’s Register, a risk rating and analysis company, certifies that Puerto Drummond’s Safety Management System was audited and complies with all of the requirements contained in the International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention (ISM Code) for Cargo Ships and Tugs, a strict maritime safety and water pollution prevention code. This certification was awarded in November 2007 and is valid until November
2012. Likewise, Lloyd’s Register certified, for the same period and reason, the 7 tugboats that operate at Puerto Drummond. It also has a Declaration of Compliance for the Port Facility issued by the Colombian General Maritime Directorate, which certifies compliance with the provisions of Chapter XI-2 and of Part A of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) for bulk carriers and oil tankers. This certification was issued in June 2009 and is valid until 2014. Continuing in the same area of operations, the World Business Alliance for Secure Commerce Organization certified that Puerto Drummond was evaluated and approved with respect to the BASC Standards Version 3-2008 RNS C-TPAT for its operations as Port Exporter. This certification, awarded in March 2011 and valid until March 2012, is a standard that is widely recognized as one of the most efficient tools for providing the highest level of cargo safety.

Similarly, Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance certified that the Integrated Management System for Occupational Health and Safety in Receiving, Handling and Loading Coal at Puerto Drummond was approved in accordance with OHSAS 18001:2007. This certification was awarded in July 2011 and is valid until July 2014. With respect to its environmental responsibilities, Drummond has received recognition from the Port Authority of Santa Marta for its ongoing commitment to the protection and prevention of pollution in the marine environment, which was awarded in September 2011. The IDEAM –Colombian Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies– accredited the Environmental Laboratory located in the Pribbenow Mine in December 2010 as a laboratory capable of performing physiochemical analyses of pH, BOD5, COD, Fats and Oils and Total Suspended Solids water quality parameters.
