3D “Deep “Autoclave Pouches

Autoclave pouches are used to wrap instruments and items that are to be sterilised in an autoclave and stored for later use.

The bottom surface is made of medical grade paper allowing steam penetration in the autoclave and maintains sterility of the processed item after sterilisation

The upper surface is a clear plastic to allow visualisation of the contents

Most often available as two dimensional flat profile pouches, the option of the 3D “Deep” Autoclave Pouches allows larger, or bulkier items to be pouched with a smaller diameter bag. This allows easier packaging in the autoclave.

3D “Deep” Autoclave Pouches: A Review

“When comparing the Steiriliu gusseted pouch to the market leading self-seal pouch it is clear that the Steiriliu product offers a superior option.

While the material composition of both pouches would offer similar microbial barrier protection, the method of sealing and the user experience would be far better with the Steiriliu product.

The self-seal pouches do not allow for convenient use when trying to seal bulky items. Due to the design of the pouch, unless it is folded precisely and sealed with the same precision each and every time, it is far too easy to fold incorrectly and leave an open path to the product and hence compromise the sterility. This is something that can also be easily missed due to the design of the pouch.

Having observed a number of these in use in the field this is even more prevalent with bulkier items which don't always allow for a flat surface to seal against. The Steiriliu 3D Deep pouch on the other hand is ideal for items that are bulky and are designed to expand to accommodate large or unusual shapes.

As they are provided on a roll they allow the user to easily size the pouch accordingly and ensure a flat sealing surface at all times. The design of the pouch ensures that a consistent sterile seal is established each time when used with the heat sealer.”
