Spa Sustainability Overview

At The Castle Spa, we are committed to meeting the needs of the present without compromising the wellbeing of future generations. Sustainability is central to our mission not only benefiting the planet and our community, but also strengthening our business. While delivering an exceptional spa experience remains our top priority, we align all operations with Dromoland’s goal of reducing carbon emissions by 51% by 2030. Our spa runs on renewable energy through a solar photovoltaic system, and water is sourced from our on-site borehole. Efficient fixtures including low-flow showers and dual-flush toilets help conserve this vital resource.

Sustainable design is reflected in our visual merchandising, crafted from eco-friendly furniture.

We proudly partner with environmentally conscious brands such as Seabody, Dr. Barbara Sturm, and Oskia, ensuring our offerings reflect the same dedication to sustainability that defines The Castle Spa.

Renweable Energy & Heating

The Castle Spa is powered by a solar photovoltaic system (roof & ground-mounted panels)

A controlled temperature heating system uses electricity and switches off when set temperature is reached, saving energy

All lighting is 100% LED, ensuring energy efficiency

Water Conservation

Water for the Castle Spa is sourced from a borehole on the Resort

Low-flow showers and dual flush toilets are also installed

Together, these steps significantly reduce water consumption with a conscious effort to reduce water consumption

Sustainable Lines & Cleaning

The Spa linen is sourced from Beltrami – a brand that is made from certified birch wood forests using eco-tech processes

Reusable mitts are laundered and re-used to avoid waste Cleaning products to clean all spa areas are sourced from Bio Kleen – Green Seal Certified, eco-safe

Waste Management, Recycling & Visual Displays

Full waste segregation system in place

All employees trained in waste management

Paper waste shredded and used in the Resort’s food composter

Compost supports on-site herb garden used for guest refreshments

Display stands made by Paper Lounge –

sustainable paper furniture

Custom Irish leather goods (key rings, clipboards, etc.) made by CarveOn Leather, supporting local Irish craft
