Northwoods –DREAM Quarterly Report June – August 2016 Greetings from DREAM! The Northwoods DREAM program has finished up another wonderful fall semester of activities. Here is a summary of all the Northwoods DREAM happenings from the last quarter.

Highlights from the quarter include:  Summer community members started the summer off with a community BBQ! Many of the families came out to enjoy burgers and hot dogs and even helped to cook the meal!  Summer community members assisted in preparing and delivering summer lunches to the families at Northwoods. Summer lunches were generously donated by local religious organizations.  For an end of summer trip the teens went to Blitz Park in Portsmouth, NH and then spent the afternoon at Hampton Beach!  Mentors came to the community to cook burritos with the youth and their families!  Mentors came to the community for the final DREAM Friday of the term and assisted in distributing school supplies. They had a BBQ for all the youth and their families. Mentors and youth also played water games and had a slip’n’slide! Fridays:  Summer community members and PED took the youth swimming on many trips throughout the summer. Youth got to swim in the Connecticut River, White River, and the Hartland Dam.  Summer community members held a baking party in the community center. Youth were invited to decorate their very own cake creation at the community center!  Youth were invited to the community center for an afternoon of baking blueberry muffins with fresh picked blueberries from the Willing Hands weekly donation.  The youth played water activities in the community with the summer community members and PED.  Mentors played games with the youth on the green for Friday programming.  We partnered with Willing Hands to provide the youth with cooking classes throughout the summer. The youth learned how to cook with ingredients that come in the weekly donation!  Summer community member and PED held a ‘Chopped” cooking challenge with the youth. Youth shopped for random food items and then were challenged to cook a delicious meal from the ingredients! Special Events for Children and Mentors:
