This services is for people who cannot pay for any home modifications to assist with easily accessing their home or moving around safely. However, if you are receiving a Home Care Package from the Government, you are still able to apply from the program. You are not eligible for this program if:
You currently live in a Government funded residential aged care facility
If you are receiving any mobility support, with aids and equipment, through Government funded programs like the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Workcover, Transport Accident Commission or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs
If you are able to claim the cost of this mobility aids through an insurance provider
If you are currently a patient in a public or private hospital For more information about the Victorian Aids and Equipment Program, call on 03 9096 8770. Additionally, there is the State-Wide Equipment Program (SWEP) which provides subsidies for assistive technology and modifications to ensure the independence of older people. Call SWEP on 1800 747 937 to find out if you are eligible.
Mobility aids can assist you
There are several different types of mobility aids available which can help you maintain independence and safety, assist in walking and moving about, helping you with personal care, making it easier for you to remain socially active, and maintain your quality of life.
Assistive technology
The program provides subsidised aids and equipment or home and vehicle modifications to people so they can remain living safely and independently in their home for as long as possible.
