In days gone by, Moruya's granite quarries were famous for supplying the rock used in the piers of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. These days, Moruya is known for its beautifully preserved heritage buildings and streetscapes, the large, intricately carved wooden poles that are dotted along the footpath of the main street and Riverside Park, sitting on the banks of the Moruya River. Great cafes, homewares, fashion labels you might not expect, specialist coffee roasters and a wholefoods outlet can also be found in this bustling little country town. The Moruya Country Market, held on Saturday mornings at Riverside Park has over 140 stallholders selling everything from locally grown fresh produce, delicious home made preserves and baked treats, handmade arts and crafts, refreshments, and street performers.
