The purpose of this book is to encourage all brothers who use Facebook to follow our official page, “Alpha Delta Phi – Miami Chapter.” At least two or three mes a week, the site is updated with recent chapter news, updates about individual alumni or group gatherings, and old photos from every era. Feel free to post, catch up with your classmates, and trade Miami memories! Here’s a sampling of Facebook posts from this winter and spring…

CRANKING UP THE WAY-BACK MACHINE Okay, we don’t have photos from ALL 190 years of our chapter’s history, but undergrad memories from all eras are a major feature of our Facebook posts. A sampling...

70TH ANNIVERSARY We realized that 2021 was 70 years since the 1951 re-founding of the Miami Chapter a er decades of closure since the Civil War. We treated Facebook followers to a series of posts that looked back at our long history and the men who made it happen.

RUSH SUCCESS In January, the Miami Chapter con nued its leadership as the Interna onal’s toprecrui ng chapter, a rac ng 32 young men who wanted to become Alpha Delts.

We introduced these brothers-to-be through a series of Facebook posts showcasing “fun facts” the new members had shared about themselves.

The new class’ educa onal program included a series of Saturday a.m. Zoom calls with esteemed chapter alumni, who shared their memories and perspec ve on the fraternity. Don French ’53 was an honored guest on Zoom – he told us about joining The 1883s (the local fraternity founded in 1948 to pursue an Alpha Delt charter at Miami), his journey to become president of the Internaonal, and his many (and con nuing!) years of generous service on the Alumni Council.

SPRING INITIATION In February, we invited all alumni to help us ini ate a new class of ac ve brothers, and several area alumni joined the fes vi es in Oxford on February 26. Later, we shared excerpts from the event’s inspiring speeches, delivered by two brothers fi y years apart.

ALUMNI EXPLOITS Brotherhood is forever, so we like to keep up with our alumni, postgradua on – especially when there’s a gathering of grads to report! Please share your news with us...

Confessions of a 70-Year-Old Frat Boy When Ross Wason ’73 moved into 22 South Campus to become on-site House Director (den mother?) for dozens of 18-year-olds, a lot of us alumni wondered “What was he THINKING?” Well, now we can all find out! With wit and a philosopher's eye, Ross’s blog provides fascina ng observa ons about kids these days, the evolving fraternity, and his journey as the world’s oldest frat boy! We publish excerpts on Facebook; email us at miamiadphi@yahoo.com to receive his monthly (or so) blog installments.

UNDERGRADUATE NEWS We regularly shared undergraduate news, reminding alumni that while the college scene has changed a lot, social events, sports, recrui ng and philanthropic ini a ves are s ll a major part of the fraternity experience.

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS Rumor has it that there are Alpha Delta Phi chapters beyond Miami. Imagine! Our Facebook posts report on some items of Interna onal interest...

At the August Interna onal conven on, Miami was again recognized as one of Alpha Delta Phi’s top 3 chapters.

Did we men on we have lots of undergrad photos from back in the day? Be er stay tuned...who knows when we’ll post one of you?!
