Tuesday 11th - Friday 14th July 2023 creativity I resilience I respect
DOROTHY STRINGER ENRICHMENT WEEK
In the penultimate week of the academic year we are planning four days of Enrichment Activities for all students in Years 7 – 9. These will take place from Tuesday 11th July to Friday 14th July 2023, and we will be offering students a wide range of activities that will give them an opportunity to learn outside of the classroom or in a different way. This is part of our extra-curricular offer, and we understand how important it is that students are able to be given opportunities that are different and enriching, which supplement their learning in the classroom.
Activities may give them the chance to face a personal challenge that takes them out of their “comfort” zone or to develop, or further develop, a new or established skill. They will have the opportunity to work with staff and other students in new ways which will help their personal development and allow them to engage in deeper learning.
In this booklet, you will find details of all the activities being offered this year. Activities offered may be limited to certain year groups or they may be open to all three year groups. These details are in the booklet along with any costs and equipment needed by students. The contents page provides quick overview to assist with this.
We have tried to keep the cost of activities as low as possible and many are free of charge. Please read this booklet together with your child and examine the activity details carefully. This will help to ensure your child selects an option that is appropriate for their interests and will make sure that Enrichment Week is as enjoyable and successful as possible for them and the other students involved. We are asking students to make first, second and third choices because many activities have a limited capacity, so it is not guaranteed that you will receive one of your top choices.
Introduction
Students this year can choose between either a four day activity or 2 x 2 day activities.
There is a slip for you to return which is available in the back of this booklet or via the SLG. To secure a place on your child’s chosen activity we require full payment by Friday 5th May 2023. It is important that your child selects an activity that you have already approved with them at home.
Next steps:
• Look at the options with your child
• Complete student choice form giving a first, second and third choice
• Choices forms must be returned to your child’s Form Tutor by Friday 27th January 2023
We will allocate and confirm choices of activities in March 2023 Full payment for activities will be required by Friday 5th May 2023.
Thank you for your support - we hope everyone has a worthwhile and memorable experience.
Mr. Hillier, Headteacher
