DBHSS AND CKHSS SCOUTS AND GUIDES CAMP The Summer Camp for the Bharat Scouts and Guides of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS) and Christ King Higher Secondary School (CKHSS), Kohima was held at Rüsoma Village, near Kohima, on 17 and 18 June 2016. A total of 84 scouts and guides actively participated in it. The camp took its course under the collective leadership of Scout Masters Sir Lohe David, Sir Daikho Daniel, Sir Victor Panmei, Bro. Robin Kamsuan sdb and Guide Captains Miss Khriengutuonuo Mere and Miss Vilabeinuo. The staff was assisted by the four Adult Leaders. The occasion was graced by the presence of Sir R. Albert Solo, the State Training Commissioner (Scouts) and Sir Khrielanguzo Belho (HWB). We were also gladdened by the visit of Fr. K. C. Vincent sdb, Principal of DBHSS, Fr. Linus Lonuo sdb, Principal of CKHSS and Fr. Paul Panü, Administrator of CKHSS to the camp site. The Camp began with the ‘Flag Break Ceremony’, followed by time for learning and advancing as scouts and guides. During the camp many input sessions were given to the campers on topics such as ‘Origin of Scouting and Guiding’, the various aspects of the Laws, Promise and the Flag, the Patrol systems and the like. The campers were enlightened by Sir Albert and Sir Khrielanguzo on the different aspects of ‘the Scouts and Guides Flag’ and the ‘National Flag’, ‘Wood Craft Sign’, etc. The knowledge of the Scouts and Guides Salute, Sign and its meaning were imparted to them by the staff members.

In the course of the camp the ‘Spare Time Activity’ (STA) was given its due importance. During this phase of the day, the scouts and guides spent time committing to their memory the Promise, Laws, the Prayers and the Flag Songs. The scout masters and guide captains tested the campers on the depth of their knowledge regarding the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement. Besides the time of learning, daily camp fire was also held. In this programme the quality of public speaking and performance were focused. Group work and physical fitness were also given due consideration through the various games and competitions. Through the games and other activities in the camp we built friendships thus shattering the wall of enmity and hatred. On 19th June 2016, the camp came to its close with the ‘Flag-down Ceremony’. By God’s grace the camp went on smoothly with no misfortunes and misadventures. The staff was indeed pleased with the enthusiastic participation of the scouts and guides and the encouragement of the authorities of both the schools. We convey to them our sincerest gratitude. And our heartfelt gratitude extends to the State Training Commissioner for his personal presence in the camp and the Quarter faculty for their keen interest in the scouting and guiding movements of our two schools.
